Up for auction is an unrestored original 1940 Ford Deluxe 2 door sedan. I bought the car from the original owner who bought it new in 1940. He replaced it with a 1953 Chevy 4 door. The car was bought new in SD and has been there for 68 years until I bought it. Someone took the gas tank out through the trunk floor. The old guy said he thought his hired hand stole the tank, could not figure out why. I think the trunk floor can be saved and the cuts welded. the spare tire well and tail pan are rusted through. The right front fender has a crack that was repaired, there is some denting above the left rear fender, a dent in the trunk lid, and the gas tank is gone. No rust out on the fenders, doors, or quarters, not even close. The floor is solid, no rust holes on the floor. The hood latch opens and closes fine, the trunk latch is stuck in the open position. The serial number on the title matches the VIN on the frame. With this car being from out west, the surface finish is smooth, not pitted. Missing are the clock, radio delete plate, one ash tray, and the passenger side seat back. as you can see, this car has the optional grill guard and heater. I had bought this as a keeper, but have decided to build the 39 as shown in the background of the photos. I do have several additional photos. The car is located near Shueyville Iowa.
