I was told the car was purchased in England by a Military person during the sixties, and shipped to texas ,after service he drove it only a little and died and then it was storied and then shipped here to Nashville for many yrs where it sat in a garage again until I bought it. I Just had it painted and they did a great job and gave it 3 clear coats and it's not been buffed out yet and I am told it will shine like glass when that done. On Nov-20-11 at 01:29:15 PST, seller added the following information: ok I need to make something clear about the purchase. no checks of any kind, $ 500.down at ending of auction and cash at pick up with in 3 days after auction .unless you wish to pay in full using pay-pal once it's paid for in full I will work with you if you need more time for pick up or to make arrangements for transporting service to pick up. Car is being sold as is. If you back out of sale I will keep the $ 500. for relisting fee and taking up my time. You are welcome to come and see the car in person I have nothing to hide here. If this does not work for you then do not bid on this car, Thanks DaleOn Nov-20-11 at 21:38:36 PST, seller added the following information: It appears there is more to these Triumphs that I would have ever thought about, I was ask about the Vin # because it tells the story and history for the car like where it was made and would be helpful to someone interested as a collector. It appears these cars are worth more for the body than if there sometimes running, This car as I said had little to no rust when I took it to have it painted the painter was impressed how good the body was, it had no bondo and just a few serface areas that needed sanding, I painted it back light blue close to the color it was, it does have a herald badge on the dash board and the key switch is on the sterring column on the left side. It has a spare in the back that was there org, I will add a few more pics, the vin,# starts with a number 1GB2 Interesting about the initial "1" before the "GB" (and I'd really be interested in the whole number for my database; see link below). Usually that "1" indicates that the car, rather than being built in Coventry, was in fact assembled at the subsidiary in Belgium. This often was the case for cars delivered to parts of Europe (especially Germany, where the steering lock was a requirement), even if they were ultimately destined for the US, such as with this serviceman. BTW, if you have some of those records of the car dating back to 1965, it will make a great history for anyone buying the car (if they appreciate such things). Thanks to Mr. Mace for the cites www.vtr.org and www.triumph-herald.us He has done a lot of great research and knows more than anyone I have chatted with. I have given him the vin,# to add to his Database to help collectors of this car and future collectors. motor number is GD48600HE On Nov-21-11 at 22:06:48 PST, seller added the following information: I like finding new notes to help you the engine # GD48600HE on this car means Herald 1200; Sports 1200 Prefix letters GD may also be found on engines; this denotes either the 48 hp. or 51 hp. version of the "12/50" engine. as you can see it's the 48 , It is missing the flags on the rear the holes are there but they were taken off somewhere in it's life before me, all other chrome is there and notice the mirrors are different than some,It sounds like this is a Rare Triumph version given where it was built, on the Triumph database there are very few found in the US that were built in Belgium and due to the facts it was a military service Gentalman who purchased it and shipped it here makes it kool. I saved the origonal door panels and back panels it's the front seats that are in need of repare. I have the origonal floor mats to and it needs one carpet chrome floor mount, The carpet was shot so I trashed it and I don't remeber seeing the missing one. oh I removed all chrome when it was painted so we would get a better paint job, the car still needs TLC but it's worth it. On Nov-24-11 at 06:41:55 PST, seller added the following information: New Note please read,,,,,,,,,,,I have change my mind on payment type, pay-pal has started a new process of holding the money for 21 days as a protection to the buyer and the seller, so this sale will be a cash sale at pick up. You will be given 5 days to complete the transaction and I must hear from you directly after sale ends. I dissagree of holding my money for 21 days.If this can't work for you please don't bid of the car. Thanks DaleOn Nov-24-11 at 17:53:39 PST, seller added the following information: sorry I thought I had put top frame pics on , someone had ask so here it is, it moves easy. It needs cloth straps that are atached to back, I have never seen another car in person so I dont know how it really works, I took off the old top but I can't remember, looks like it's all there. needs a pin in one of the chrome latches, they are both there. hope this helps,
