Vehicle Detail
Time to sell my Jeep. This is a 1987 Jeep Wrangler. The inline 6 is gone and a Chevy V8 sits in its place. The engine is a 305 (5.0) from a Chevy truck of the same year. The engine was installed with a new engine cradle (Cross Member) From advanced Adapters and bolted to the stock Chrysler 3 speed automatic transmission using an adapter plate and flywheel from Advanced Adapters. The engine is cooled by an aluminum radiator and an electric fan. The transmission is cooled by an external cooler/electric fan combo. The electric fuel pump is an in tank unit from a 94 Wrangler. This Jeep was column shift before the V8 swap. It now uses a B&M Mega Shifter. The seats are original. The drivers seat is starting to separate a little at the seams. The passenger seat is o.k. I have gray and black seat covers. All of the gauges work except for the oil pressure. The correct sending unit needs to be installed on the engine. The stock tachometer runs through an adapter from Dakota Digital. This allows the stock Tach to represent true RPM from the V8 reference. The check engine light functions with the GM computer. The back seat is not in the Jeep but is in good condition and included. The stereo is a new Kenwood CD player. Blaupunkt 6x9 speakers in aftermarket enclosures designed to fit behind the front seats on the floor. The front speakers are from Clarion and are about 9 years old. The CB does not work. It does power up though. I think it may a problem with the antenna or cable. The extra lights on the front of the Jeep are from Warn and Pro Comp. The winch is a warn 8000 and the control is mounted under the hood, with the winch control plug mounted in the grill. I do have a hard top for this Jeep. The glass is good. The color is black, but it is faded and needs a good cleaning. I also have canvas half doors as well. The body has some small dents and scratches here and there. The front fender caps were damaged by the previous owner and it looks like they tried to fix it with filler The axles: The front is a Dana 44 from a Ford truck. It has been narrowed to the stock wheelbase. It runs axle shafts from a Grand Wagoneer. The diff is open. The brakes are standard GM half ton units. Chevy 6 lug and Pro Comp premium hubs. The steering is a High Steer arrangement.(The tie rod is mounted above the springs to keep it safe from rock damage) The tie rods are solid tube and use 1 ton tie rod ends. None of these components have very many miles on them. The rear axle is also a Dana 44. It is a stock housing from a Grand Wagoneer. The axles share the same Chevy 6 lug pattern as the front. The rear brakes are drum, larger than the stock wrangler. The diff gears have been welded. It now functions like a spool. The gears in both axles are 4:56. The master cylinder has been upgraded to handle the larger front and rear brakes. The rear drive shaft is a CV unit and uses a slip yoke eliminator from Rubicon Express. The lift is a spring over from Rubicon Express. Brake lines are braided. Sway bar quick disconnects are installed. The tires are Super Swampers. 33 x 12.50. The front have plenty of tread and the rears are nearing the tread wear bars, but still have plenty of useful tread left. These are bias ply tires. Engine details: Fresh rebuild, Less than 1000 miles on engine. Throttle Body Fuel Injection. (Holley Performance Throttle Body) This a emissions legal replacement for the stock throttle body. Headers, Edelbrock Intake. New Powermaster alternator. 90 amp at idle, 150 amp max. I have not gone through the smog certification process for California and it will require some more work to make it perfect. It will not pass smog without going through the state smog ref. All of the stock emission equipment is installed and wired in. The Jeep run and drives. I have towed it to The Rubicon and it performs well. I think it runs too rich to pass an emission check. Could be too much pressure from the fuel pump. The pump is from a multi point injection system used in later Jeep engines. These run at about 35 p.s.i and tbi units run under 12 p.s.i. Howell sells a pump that may be better suited to this application. The shift cable and kick down cable need more fine tuning. This a custom Jeep so repairs etc. are more challenging than with a stock Jeep. You should be mechanically inclined. This is a great vehicle for someone who wants a custom YJ that has all of the real expensive upgrade already done but still has room for you to make it what you want.
