Vehicle Detail
I've had this truck for a little over eight years. It was purchased new by my cousin, then sold to my father, then to me. This has been my daily driver and only vehicle for all of those eight years. Now it seems that with another winter approaching and the fact that it needs some repairs and updates; it's time to pass in on and find another vehicle. There are a lot of little things wrong with the truck that are things that you can "live without" that I haven't fixed because the truck runs without them. Some cosmetic, some funtional. I will honestly list every little thing to keep everything out in the open. Please ask as many questions as you like and I can privately email more pictures of specific things as well. Keep in mind that I'm not a "car guy." I never have kept repair records, so aside from telling you that the next oil change is scheduled in 500 miles; I will do my best to describe as much as I can. I drove this truck to North Carolina two months ago with NO problems. I'll list a "good/bad/ugly" style list below: THE GOOD: Starts up every time and engine runs normally Shifts clean - Transmission has always been great Good solid exhaust and brakes Heat is hot, A/C is cold THE BAD Power steering does not work right now. I had it fixed recently, but all the power steering fluid drained out again two weeks ago. In the moment, I can't recall what the exact problem was, but it obviously needs fixing again. You can put fluid in and it will work, but it will just quickly drain out. When I had some suspension work done in the summer; the shop told me that the truck would pull a bit to the right because of the tires. At any rate, the truck did pull slightly to the right after the repair. The front does ride a bit rough over bumps though. Gas gauge does not read correctly. It bounces from full to empty at random. I've been tracking my fuel by using mileage. Filling up before I get to 300 miles on a tank. There was some kind of ABS (censor?) issue which has long been forgotten, but there is a fuse that has been removed. From what I remember, there is no ABS right now. The ABS light stays on. The reverse lights do not come on. Could even be a bulb issue. Never pursued a fix. Rear view mirror fell of last summer. It's in the truck and also the little cable clip. Just needs to be stuck back on. Tires need replacing soon. Fronts are going bald. Rears have a bit more tread left. I was going to replace them before the winter, but now I'm selling instead. Front right tire is starting to have a very slow air leak. I've been putting a bit of air in every couple weeks depending on mileage. The driver side door is starting to hang a tiny tiny bit. I assume that it's a normal wear & tear issue as the hinges must get worn down from the weight of the door being opened and closed for years. You'll never need to use these latches since the seats don't recline back, but the side reclining latches on both seats had been broken off before I purchased the truck. This also is not a problem because there is another set of latches on the upper part of the seat that do the same thing to lower the seat forward. The steering wheel sort of crumbled apart on the top of the wheel from usage. I put some white duct tape on it to keep the crumbling from growing and put a steering wheel cover on. If you want the "really" in depth detail, it adds some leather odor to the truck. (there are no weird odors, by the way) Cosmetically, there is some rust coming through on the bumper and very bottom edges of the body. As seen in photos. Pretty minor. Also, the carpet inside is a bit grungy from little spills or winter salt build up on the driver's side. The center arm rest had a crack in the plastic which led to the padding being crumbled out into the cassette/storage area. Hard to clean out, but had to mention it. Cassette deck is not the greatest. I used it a ton and it was getting to where tapes weren't playing great anymore. THE UGLY The truck is tough to drive in the winter being a manual, rear wheel drive vehicle with no weight in the back unless you put sandbags or something in the back. I had a minor spin out last winter. Embarrassing, yes, but the rear end spun around and hit some concrete divider at low speed. Because of this, there is damage to the rear bumper and bed. I honestly don't know how this impacted the truck as a whole. I'm showing pictures of the different angles and you can see from the rear view that the bed/bumper is slightly off center. The tail gate does not open as a result of the spin out. Must have banged the bed hard enough to mess with the latches. The truck originally had a cd player in it that was installed before I owned it. This was stolen while I was at work. There is a little hole under the passenger side door (shown in photo) where the thief probably took a screwdiver to. Because of this, the center air vent is broken a bit and just sitting in it's spot. It stays in place and works ok, but if you were to remove the dash cover, it is not attached. You can't really notice it actually. Also that's why there is some cracking on the top of the plastic that goes around the vent and radio. They bent it up. I was also told that this is why the airbag light is on and they probably stole my passenger airbag. I have no idea if this actually happened.
