My wife had a 1970 Opel GT when we met and she wanted one again. We bought this one, we got busy, moved 450 miles, built new a home. The Opel project just never happened. This auction is for a 1972 White Opel GT, 4 cylinder, 4-Speed that we purchased used in 2001, driven around 100 miles and placed in storage to await restoration. Current mileage is 90,219.6. The VIN number is 772861105. It was running when stored but due to it's long storage and not having a battery, we have not tried to start it. When a car has been idle this long there are things that need to be done prior to starting it. This will be the responsibility of the purchaser. The seller will not start it or allow others to start it before the successful buyer takes possession. We have always stored the car inside and it has not been driven since 2001. The battery was removed and it does not have one now. There were a couple minor problems that were fixed while it was being driven. One item that was not done was that the rear axle was a little noisy and may need set up. Also, it needed some front brake work and two new front brake calipers were purchased and are included in this sale. The tires were not the greatest and four new Goodyear tires were purchased. They are included in this sale. We have the original ignition key as well as the original gas cap and key. The original color was Opel Racing Orange. It was repainted white at sometime prior to our ownership. In some places the white is peeling thus showing showing some orange. There are speaker holes in the area behind the seats, but there is no radio or speakers included. Also, it does not have a jack or spare tire. There is a crack on the lower crossbar in the grill. Depending upon your plans for the car, it can be repaired or more stylish grills are available on the web. There is some upholstery damage. There is a tear near the seat belt on the driver's seat cover. There is a crack in the dash cover that can be seen in the VIN number photo. The map pocket on the driver's side door has a rip along the bottom. The retractable rotating headlights did not work at the time we purchased the car and do not work now. The control handle moves easily so it may be a cable but I have not determined the cause. The car is located about 30 miles west of Fort Wayne, IN.
