Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a very nice, no rust, Florida owned 1986 BMW 635 CSI (VIN is WBAEC7400607667). I am moving to the midwest and don't want a rear wheel drive car in the snow so I am grudgingly selling it. I have owned the car for approximately 12 months and have driven it daily with no issues. This summer I drove 2,000 miles round trip to Iowa with absolutely no problems. For an antique this is a very nice example but it is not concourse. First the good things: the car has approximately 130,000 miles, averaging less than 10,000 a year. The interior is in excellent shape, the leather seats are very clean with no rips or tears and only slight wear on the side bolsters of the drivers seat. The leather is in superb shape for a 25 year old car. The dash is also very clean, with one small crack in the center. The engine is STRONG and drives like new. The transmission shifts flawlessly. I just added a new battery, recently replaced the AC compressor and the front control arms. The AC blew cold this summer. It is always a head turner. There are a few issues to be aware of as the car is 25 years old. The clear coat is peeling in some areas and the paint in those areas has some scratches. From 10 feet the car looks flawless but if you want a pristine car a paint job would be in order. Some of the gauges work intermittently; the tach works probably 75% of the time and the engine temp and fuel guage work intermittently. Shortly after I bought it the odometer stopped working. As a result I am estimating the mileage but it should be pretty close as I don't live far from my office. Most of the seat electronic work well except for the headrest motors and the driver side thigh extension. All in all this is a great car for someone who want a unique vehicle or a BMW enthusiast who wants a nice example but doesn't want to pay $15,000. For a few bucks the car could be almost perfect. The car is being sold as is with no implied warrantly. This vehicle is being offered on a 7 day listing and may be removed at any time for a local purchase Delivery/pick-up of the vehicle will be the responsibility of the purchaser. One item I am adding, that I forgot to describe initially, was the trunk does not latch shut easily. I have found that to get it to latch I need to close it several times from the left or right end of the trunk. Shutting from the center rarely works and neither does slamming it shut. I couldn't find anything wrong with the actual latch mechanism(at least not that I could see) but I'm not sure why its an issue. I've owned numerous old cars and have come to view these sorts of things as "personality" rather than a real issue. The sunroof and all windows work properly. All in all this is a great car for someone who want a unique vehicle or a BMW enthusiast who wants a nice example but doesn't want to pay top dollar. For a few bucks the car could be almost perfect.
