Vehicle Detail

1980 International Scout Traveler For the last few years, this Scout has been my fun ride. I'd take the top off every spring and loved driving it around all summer and into the fall. We'd always get a lot of smiles and waves, along with a variety of questions about the vehicle. However, my wife and I were blessed with our first child this past year, so we don't have enough time to enjoy the Scout as much as we used to. We've decided it's time to give someone else the opportunity to make some memories with this vehicle. I do have a short video of the engine running, shifting into drive and reverse. Can't figure out how to add it on here, so shoot me an email if you'd like to see it. I'm hoping the pictures are pretty evident. The body does have some rust. As I mentioned, we've taken the top off the last few years, so the seal was cut in order to do that. The odometer reads 98071, but I'm not sure how accurate that is. The Scout has the 'Diesel' emblem on it's side, but the gentleman I purchased the scout from switched it out to a gas engine. The fuel guage only seems to work from time to time, most of the time it will register down near empty. I'm guessing it would be a fairly easy fix, but just not something I've ever looked into. We'd just keep track of the mileage and the fuel we had added. Two of the tires are very good, put on new. The other two are fair I'd say. Spare tire on matching wheel is included. Power steering fluid needs to be added from time to time. We had one of the hoses to the reservoir replaced, but the other looks fairly old and has a slow leak. Very easy to stay on top of though. I always kept an eye on transmission fluid and oil, but additions to those weren't needed very often. The radio works, but it's obviously old, so does take a little effort to track down the stations sometimes. 4-wheel drive works just fine. The windshield has a crack in it, but nothing that effects your line of sight. The hatch locks and opens, hydraulic lifts on that are still intact. Clear title is in hand. The Scout has made the 45 mile drive between my hometown and my current city a few times, so it is highway worthy. Anything too far though, I'd recommend trailering it until you are comfortable with everything it entails. It's a small thing, but one of my favorite features about this Scout is the tilt-wheel. Makes it very easy to get comfortable and just go down the road. I'm trying to think of anything I may have overlooked. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. Thanks
