Vehicle Detail
This is a rare 1973 year model 280SEL. The previous owner kept this car in a conditioned garage below a vacation home for almost ten years, driving it around the island to play golf. It has been very well taken care of and serviced reguraly. The interior is practically immaculate, especially for a car of its age. The wood grain is in good shape but shows its age and could be re-done. The dash, door panels, and ulphostrey have no cracks or tears. The carpet is in great shape. Overal the interior is amazing for a car of its age. The exterior body is also very straight and has no real dings or dents. The paint looks great 10-15 feet away. However, the hood has some sort of spilled liquid haze that you can see up close, the front of the car has road chipping, and the top and trunk show fading. If I were to keep this car I would say that it needs a paint job to be right. I have had it serviced by a local Mercedes garage since I have owned it. It runs really really well. The V-8 engine has no trouble at all keeping up with modern day cars. It has alot of power from around town to the highway. It seems to effortlessly float along. It does smoke a little bit (mostly when it is started in the morning) and the mechanic says that it could use a valve job. I just put brand new Cooper 50k mile tires on, just had a tune up, and recently had the A/C converted and serviced. Now, the A/C works absolutely perfectly, blows ice cold, and will run you out but only one problem. When I had it serviced the mechanic noted the interior A/C selector switch was bad. He could not get a new replacement. He used a used switch. It has started acting up. You have to turn it a dozen times to get the AC to start up. This switch needs to be replaced. Also the driver's window track has a problem. The switch works and the motor works. It comes up slightly crooked and binds. I have not had this fixed. It has the oringinal tool kit and a Michelin Snow spare that seems as old as the car. This is absolutlety a great car that needs just a little bit of attention in order for it to be extra special.
