This is an original 1982 Honda Prelude, definitely a hard to find classic Honda in the Midwest! I am the second owner of this car, and for the first 85,000 miles of this Prelude's life it was a California car. I've used it off and on as a daily driver for the past 5 years and it's been great to me, but this summer a few too many things piled up and I have to let it go. Since owning the car I have -Replaced the alternator -Replaced the starter -New brake pads and rotors installed -Rear tires replaced March 2010, front tires replaced last May (very little use since) -Replaced fusing link -Old engine wiring replaced -Replaced right front end axle assembly The oil has been changed regularly and every repair receipt has been saved and will be included with the sale. The previous owner also kept meticulous records of repairs and those will also be included. The winning bidder will also receive the original 1982 Honda Prelude Owners Manual, the Haynes 1979-1982 Honda Prelude Owners Workshop Manual, and a custom mixed can of 1982-1985 Honda Silver spray paint. The "M" logo on the grill is from a Mack truck and will be included on the car, as well as the original Honda emblem. The GOOD: The car is still in good shape and with a bit of work would definitely make a great first car or project. The battery was purchased last spring and the engine starts right up, no problem. All the electrical in the car works fine, including the JVC KD-G510 Radio/CD Player/Mp3 stereo. It's a very mechanically straight forward car so repairs or modifications would be no problem. The BAD: -Unfortunately the rear brake cylinder needs to be rebuilt and so the car loses brake fluid almost immediately. -The muffler has fallen off and so the engine is loud (doesn't affect performance, but ought to be replaced) -The driver's door window was broken by a falling branch and will need to be replaced -The front passenger wheel panel is dented. -The Midwest rust has started to creep up on the lower panels, but it's nothing serious yet. -The seat covers up front are damaged. Because of the issue with the brakes this car CAN NOT be driven home and thus will need to be towed. There is a very reasonable brake shop about a half a mile from my house that quoted the brake work at $220, and with a fresh bottle of brake fluid the car could be carefully driven there, repaired, and then driven home no problem. I just can't afford to put money into the car and thus it's being sold as is with no reserve! The car is located in Cary, Illinois, which is next to Crystal Lake in McHenry County. About an hour northwest of Chicago, less than 40 minutes from the Wisconsin border.
