Note to bidders: If you have feedback lower than 5 you must email me prior to bidding to review my terms and conditions. Note this is a no-reserve auction starting at $1 so I was not able to indicate the $250 deposit required. Note also that I take deposits via Paypal but require cash or equivalent for settlement.I am not a dealer but I do make a living as “Akron Suzuki Works” repairing, restoring and selling vintage Suzuki’s. I’m a mechanical engineer with 35 yrs of hands-on tuning, modifying, racing, touring and rebuilding experience with Japanese and European bikes. About half of my work is doing GS restorations for clients. To get an idea about our standards here a the shop, one of our project bikes last year was featured on the GSResources bike of the month page; http://thegsresources.com/halloffame/2010/gs_photo_aug_2010.htmI also list bikes for friends, family and clients--the case with this Goldwing. They are usually bikes we have worked on here in the shop so have at least recent maintenance history. Beyond that I will always give you the straight dope on how the bike rides, handles and behaves--or misbehaves.Note to International Bidders: I will assist in shipping at your expense to just about anywhere in the world. Remember that ocean shipping requires a crate but air shipping may only require a pallet. The Auction Bike: An exceptionally clean 1984 Interstate with 31k miles This bike has obviously been ridden and stored carefully--the overall cleanliness and lovely paint and finish quality show off nicely. The frame paint is in very nice shape with only some minor scratches and everything 'under the hood' is clean. For additional photos at higher resolution go to my photoserver at:http://suzuki-gs-bikes.smugmug.com/Motorcycles/client-bikes/1200-Goldwing/19519485_JbDg32#1528421311_7JbF3SdThe bike is in good overall mechanical and electrical condition. It's an instant starter, it idles smoothly and all lights, indicators, signals work as new. It is tight with no oil or fluid leaks.'84 was an "upgrade year" for the Goldwing. Honda took 10 years to punch the original 1000cc mid 70's motors to 1200 cc. 84's also got a bigger frame with a stiffer chassis, better shocks and better 'integration' of the bags and fairings. The late seventies models were still coming thru from Marysville, OH naked as jaybirds which was good for Craig Vetter but did give the bikes a kit look rather than the smoother factory-done-it appearance of the '84's and later bikes. The paint and bright works on this bike look very fresh. I believe the black base paint to be factory with the accent red nicely done later on. I have clear Ohio title in hand ready to transfer to new owner. Current owner bought the bike '09 from an older long-time owner who obviously didn't ride it enough--not many of the early 80's bikes around with 30k miles. Recent maintenance and other condition details: -Front tire was just replaced (along with a new tube), rear is at 80% or better-wheel bearings replaced when tire was mounted-stator and rectifier replaced, grounds cleaned; charging system is on spec (volts and amps)!-accessory lights and stereo wired in neatly with double crimp factory-style connectors-stereo just replaced, nice Sony MP3/CD radio; fairing has enough wrap-around to make the stereo functional-seating surfaces are beautiful survivors with just some slight wear showing on the side panels So how's it ride out and what's it need? I took the bike out for a cruise and found it to be a pleasant ride. The carbs are very close to spot on providing brisk acceleration certainly for a 1200 of its age and trim level. The fairing provides nice wind protection which helps with the stereo as mentioned. A nice touch especially if you do your own work is this is bike has a functioning center stand and isn't so heavy that you need to see a hernia specialist every time you get it up on the stand. About the only thing I would do over the winter would be to replace the front break pads. You can coax a little weep out of the left fork seal if you pump it hard but it's not at the do-it-right-now point yet. The accessory parcel rack on the rear box looks a bit weathered. It could use a re-chrome or better yet, get it powder coated black. For the Lawyers… As everybody knows by now, you are buying a 31 yr old vehicle here which is sold as-is where-is with no guarantees that it will do what you, I or anybody else expects it to do. I do guarantee that it has been described accurately and back that up by canceling a sale if you win the auction and come to pick up the bike and it does not meet your expectations based on my description. Man I wish I’d gotten a guarantee like this from about half the bike sellers I’ve dealt with on eBay over the years! Additional Notes about Akron Suzuki WorksI have a 2-bay shop and a few part-time Suzuki nuts who love to put GS bikes in primo condition for your daily riding and viewing pleasure. I look for low miles examples of GS750, GS850 and GS1100 bikes and get them looking and running as close to new as possible. We have sent bikes and parts to Europe, Canada, South America and all over the US. Our most recent export was a Suzuki to France. After 60+ GS restorations in the past 6 years we have identified the weaknesses and common problems that these durable, well-designed machines suffered from. We go over each bike with these things in mind and make logical, professional repairs, upgrades and minor modifications to improve function and reliability. GS guys know I am referring to charging system problems, cold blooded starting, fuel system and carb problems and of course a long list of things that happen over time to any machine. We often have carbs sent in by clients for overhauling and rejetting. We have several sets for GS1100 G, L and E modle bikes in inventory so if you're in a hurry we may be able to get you handled in a few days. We incorporate Suzuki factory service bulletins that have been issued over the years and we keep an eye out on the GSResources site and web forums for good ideas. We prefer genuine Suzuki OE parts where available including filters and gaskets because they tend to fit and last better than aftermarket parts. We select after market parts based on experience with what works best. We also take pride in making these bikes easy on the eyes. Whenever possible we leave the excellent quality factory paint alone. The alloy case covers, peg mounts and trim are usually giving up their clearcoat so we strip them and professionally polish them to a chrome-like finish.
