This is an opportunity to own a beautiful 1963 VW Camper Bus. Because the body is extremely straight and the condition of the original interior wood paneling and upholstery are in pretty good condition, I believe the 95,827 miles to be accurate. Over the last several years (26 to be exact), I have owned many buses, vanagons, and eurovans. Most owners and collectors would agree with me that the VW “split window” vintage bus is considered to be the most classic. What is unique about this year is the fact that 1963 was the last year that the bus had a small sized retro-style rear window like this one…very cool! What makes this bus so desirable is its original condition. The bus has the original engine and four speed manual transmission. The engine was totally rebuilt about 2k miles ago and I had the electrical system upgraded from the original 6 volt system to a 12 volt. I recently had the engine tuned up so she not only starts immediately, but she runs great as well. Considering that the vehicle was made in 1963, the body is very straight, but not perfect. As you can see in one of the photos, there is an area above the right tail light where it looks like a previous owner backed into something. I would be hesitant to repair the area because I consider it to be minor and would not want to take away from the vehicle’s original condition. Also, the stitching of the upholstery on the far left corner rear bench seat has unraveled. I think it can be re-stitched.
