Vehicle Detail

You're looking at a beautiful 1965 MGB that is fully restored back to original and was done in 2006 or 2007. Here's the story; I've had MG's since high school when I had a right hand drive TC that my dad and I rebuilt the wooden frame. Since then I've had midgets an A and maybe 10 MGB's. My latest was a red 68 that I used for parades and a few trips. Since I've had so many "B's" as well as other foreign cars, people ask me british car questions. Several years ago the guy who owns this car wanted something as cool as mine and had heard that Austin Healeys were the ones to get. I agreed, but I remember when I wanted a Big Healey, and my wife asked me if I could have $50,000.00 more fun in one of them rather than the B; the answer was "probably not". So we agreed to find him a B that was nicer than mine, and was affordable. We found one on ebay and we missed out for whatever reason. Then we found this one and bought it out of California. In talking to the gentlemen who sold it; he said he had $26,000. into it. and I asked him why he put $26K into a B? And the answer was that it was his first restoration and he didn't realize it would never be worth the money. I think he was an archetect. He said that he had painstakenly studied every detail in taking the car apart, took pictures, made labels, bought NOS from Moss and Victoria British, did a rotissory restoration and it took him 3 years but that EVERYTHING was either Original or NOS. It even has the windshield "Tudor" bottle washer and correct hoses. The choke cable looks to me not to be original, but I'm not that much of an expert. It has the "Cooper" stickers on the air cleaners, and the correct positive earth with 2/ 6 volt in series. Seats are leather, carpets are wool, and the top is new. I comes with the original manual, drivers handbook, jack, lead knock off mallet, and the vinyl/horsehair things that the top bows and tonneau rods live in when not in use. It really does appear that it's all there! I think it has Dunlop chrome wheels, and I'm not sure if they were original, or if chrome was even an option in 1965.The steering wheel is an original "Banjo" without any imperfections. I always said that the 66 and 67 were the best MG's because they had all the good stuff and none of the bad. They had the 5 main bearing engine, the toggles, synchro tranny, steel dashboard, stow away top and all that stuff. This 65 has all that EXCEPT the synchro 1st gear transmission. It doesnt have that. But if you're any good at driving an MG you can make it a synchro with a few fast moves with your hands and feet. But the extra cool item is that this has the electric overdrive and it works perfectly! It's on the market because it's too nice to just store in the barn. It's not being used and since purchased in 2007, it has maybe 250 miles since my friend got it, and maybe 500 before that when the original restorer sold it. So it has maybe 1000 miles since total engine and body rebuild. Thats all a guess, and thats what I put down when ebay wanted mileage. I don't have a clue. If you are a purist, this is probably as good as anything you're going to find. I think it's all original but I know guys who could probably tell me differently. But we don't know for sure. It could be perfect. email me things to check and I'll do the best I can. And, oh yes, this has the original California "Black Plate" which I'm told is something significant. It is also certified by some organization in England that it's original and pure and ...something else. But I do remember the previous owner saying it took him 2 years and a bunch of research to get this certification and he was very proud of that fact. I think we can find that certification somewhere.
