This is my 1985 Saab 900 Turbo that I purchased from my cousin in Chicago about a year ago who was the original owner. It is an extremely reliable daily driver or if the rust is repaired, would be a beautiful, original example of the classic 900. It is however with the exception of a small dent on the front fener that my cousin tried popping out and the rust, pretty much ding and dent free and the paint is 100% original. Just to bore you with a little background about myself and the car ( a sob story), which most Saab nuts would love to hear- I grew up with Saab 900s in my family and I have personally owned about thirteen of them in my 22 years of driving. My last one which incidentally was my fathers that I had learned to drive on was a 1983 4 door Turbo 5 speed . Unfortunately about four years that car which I cherished fell over my retaining wall ( I will post a pic to amaze you ) and flipped over and had to be junked and I was devastated. So now to the point how it pertains to this car - So after a few years of missing the car which was very hard to replace because I am very particular with the 900s I will drive- It has to be a pre-87 style lights and bumpers, 4dr, 5spd Turbo and four door turbos were only produced in 83 84 85 89 and being it is so hard to find these cars in general, it was a next to impossible task. until one day when my cousins came to visit and I found out that they still had theirs !! So I talked them into selling it to me and I drove it here to Connecticut and that is a long story short- LOL. I originally was working 90 miles away so it gave the car a purpose,but I am no longer commuting and have 5 other cars on a 1/2 acre of land, so my toy must find a new home, as heart breaking as it is. The car runs absolutely phenomenal. It does have rust but not on the frame,floorboards, front A-arm suspension point typical to many classic 900s of this era . Turbo was replaced about a year before I bought it. The good- engine is smooth and powerful, sunroof, power windows, mirrors, fog lights, antenna and cruise work, new leather on front seats and it has a CD radio. The bad- Power locks do not work, trans linkage needs adjustment or replacement, so it pops out of second gear periodically only during deceleration if you dont keep your hand on the shifter, all other gears are fine and smooth. A little oil seepage by corner of valve cover when the car sits for a few days, but never enough to have needed to add oil between oil changes. Will need brakes front and rear soon, A/C was converted to 134 but only holds a charge for about a month and the rust that I spoke about earlier. The hood doesnt open completely without a support rod because with all the snow this past winter I popped the hood open to check the oil and the weight of the snow bent the hinge. It is however perfectly driveable and can certainly be driven anywhere. Thank You for your interest and I hope that this car can find a good home where someone will bring it back to its glory or drive it as is for another 27 years, because these Saabs (particularly 4 dr Turbos) are getting more exotic and hard to find everyday and the car deserves it and is worth it.
