Vehicle Detail
No Reserve 1975 Mercedes Benz 450 SEL 6.9 This was the most luxurious Mercedes of the 70s and 80s. The engine and suspension were based on the famous Mercedes 600 Limousine of the 60s. The engine has 6.9 liters or 417 cubic inches. It has a dry sump engine and has four overhead camshafts as well as fuel injection. The suspension is hydraulic, which automatically adjusts the ride height to compensate for loads in the car. It is known as a superb suspension for both smooth ride and excellent cornering. This car was the top model in the line of Mercedes. It is the long wheelbase sedan and has every option available at the time. With the 6.9 engine it is an amazing performer. Only about 3,500 were produced worldwide. Only 1,816 were imported to the United States, so this is a very special Mercedes indeed. Supercar, a real rocket on the road. It looks just like a “normal” 450 SEL – until you try to follow one through a corner or on the straight road at speed. The special 6.9's where all manufactured on their own exclusive assembly line as opposed to the standard 450SEL's. Up for sale is a one of the rarest (331-st from the assembly line) 1975 Mercedes-Benz 450 SEL 6.9. This is the better looking, more powerful, and more desirable European model with 286 HP M-100 power plant. This Mercedes has 110, 844 miles on the odometer and overall is in good condition. All original untouched, survivor, very rare, highly sought after Mercedes Benz 6.9 liter sedan. This 6.9 has its matching # original driveline components, and is a very rare opportunity for a collector in the know. (radio is original Mercedes Becker valued 450-600). This car has been specially made in 1975 for a person from United Arab Emirates who lived in Paris, France at the time. That person name is Jalal Chachia and his name is included and stomped on the manufacturing decal on the door post. He moved to Canada and brought the car with him. Limited numbers have been made in 1975, most of them per special customers with special request and also Mercedes for themselves for grand presentation of “Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9” model at the Geneva and Frankfurt Auto Shows. This is how "NADA Guide" values a Mercedes 450SEL 6.9: - Low Retail: $16.100 - Average Retail: $21,300 - High Retail: $31,600 This 1975 Mercedes Benz has a heavy German steel body finish in Silver grey factory paint. The navy leather interior is well preserved and accented with Walnut Wood trim. All the chrome, trim, emblems, glass, are in good shape as well. There are some imperfections and some paint peeling around the antennae and rust spots close to the passenger rear light. All mechanicals systems are excellent turn-key ready to use and drive anywhere with confidence. Suspension raises and lowers just as it should. Car was recently tuned-up in preparation for rigorous Government Air Care test. Passed with flying colors. Test drive will show astonishing power and superb handling.
