Up for auction is a very nice 1985 Mercedes 300D Turbo Diesel. I will provide additional information below and as many details as possible. Please ask any questions and have any inspections done prior to bidding. Please understand this is a 26 year old car and is not new, I am happy to help with any professional inspection companies or make the car available to you for your own assessment. I have been a member of Ebay for over 10 years and have 100% positive feedback. I try to be as upfront as possible. Bid with confidence and please review the following information. Overall Condition: The 300D is in very good condition. I would classify it as an above average driver. It is not a concour car. It is not a museum car. It is not a collector quality car. However it is not a typical driver either. Again I would say it is an above average driver. Exterior: The paint is in good condition. It looks to have been resprayed at some point in its life and is average quality. Still has a nice shine to it and has minimal scratches and chips. The trim is average and still has a decent shine. The panels and undercarriage appear to be free of rust and I believe this 300D has lived its entire life in salt free Florida. Glass is very good and weatherstripping is average. I would rate the exterior a 8 out of 10. Interior: Very clean and carpets are in great shape especially for their age. Seats are good as well and I do not remember any rips or tears. Wood is in average condition and ashtray is not there. Radio is aftermarket and plays Ipod and CD, FM reception is very poor. All gauges function and operate as they should. Power windows all work. Sunroof is inop. Vacum locks do not work either. You must manually lock the doors. The map pockets on the rear of the seats are not there. Condition of seats and headliner are all above average. The AC works very well and keeps you comfortable. The interior B-pillar trim was looking bad so I had them professionally redone and they come with the car, however will need to be installed. Interior is a 8 out of 10 Mechanically: Myself and the previous owner have spent many dollars on making this a VERY dependable and up to date car. A major service has just been done with control arms, Ball Joints, AC, Valve Adjustment, Master Cylinder, Sway Bar bushings, and valve cover gaskets. This was in addition to other big repair and maintenance work recently done. The Shop that did the work is highly respected and feels this 300D is as mechanically sound as you will find. Again 26 years old but has been well cared for and current on the needed repairs as far as we can tell. I would give Her a 9 out of 10 mechanically. Driving: Cars stops, shifts, and accelarates as it should. Drives down the raod smoothly with no issues. If you have never driven an old MB diesel they are slow and sloppy by todays standards but unique and interesting to those who appreciate there longevity and build quality.
