Vehicle Detail

For Sale, a solid Mk2 Capri from 1976 in pretty good shape. I bought this car last summer and intended to keep it for much longer. Unfortunately I had to move from Toronto to Montreal where parking is very difficult. In Toronto I had a garage but cannot find one in Montreal for a reasonable price. I'd have to pay to store the car for the winter and then I'd have to leave it on the street in the summer which I'm not willing to do so the best thing is for me to sell it to someone who can look after it properly. History: The Car started out in life in California. It was later taken across to Florida where it spent some time. Around 10 years ago it was take to Indianapolis where it spent 9 years during which time it only drove around 1000 miles. I got it last summer and took it to Toronto where I drove it for the summer and parked it in my garage for the winter, bringing it back out in May. In the summer I used the car to get me to work and back as well as using it to go on a few holidays. It's a great car, turns loads of heads, fun to drive, good on fuel, reliable and easy to work on. The car is very reliable and good mechanical condition and pretty smart cosmetic condition. I have no doubts that whoever buys it will have no problems driving it back to where ever they are going in North America. The last big trip I did in it was Toronto to Montreal about a month ago and there were no problems at all. I have also taken it from Toronto to Quebec city and from Toronto to New York City on holidays and never had any problems on those trips. The only time the car ever gave me any hassle was the day I picked it up as it hadn't seen much regular use so a few parts needed replacing. Bad Bits - At some point in the cars life it has had a right hand side rear quarter panel fitted. This hasn't been lined up quite right and you can see that if you look closely at the door shut line. It's not something I really thought worth the hassle of fixing. Whatever cause it to need the quarter panel also resulted in a slight crinkle in the boot floor and a ding in the rail in the wheel arch. You'd only notice these on close inspection of the vehicle. The car drives straight and true with no handling issues at all. - There is 1 small hole in one of the rocker/sill panels, this would be easily fixed with a Mig. - There is a little bit of surface rust on the leading edge of the sun roof, this can be sanded down and painted - One of the exhaust mufflers is blowing and will need replacing if you are going to have a safety inspection, the rest of the system is solid although probably quite old as it has a fair bit of surface rust. - There are a couple of cracks in the paint, but nothing major. - There is some wheel shake on braking, probably just because the brake discs are old and a bit warped, this always happens on these cars. - The heater matrix is disconnected, I can only assume a previous owner did this because it leaked. I have never tried connecting it up as I only drove the car in summer, but I will include a spare, known good, heater matrix with the car. - Indicator switch is a bit worn so sometimes the indicators don't stay on unless you hold it. - One of the wheel centre caps is missing. - The previous owner put a new carpet in it, but a spot directly above one of the cats has melted a bit as the cat seems to run a bit hot. This is easily covered with a floor mat New Parts Since owning the vehicle I have put the following new parts on it: - The mileage on the car is only around 90,000 so pretty low for a vehicle of this age. - A nice JVC stereo with USB/MP3/CD. - New Waterpump - New Track Control Arms with poly bushes (Previous owner put poly bushes in the anti roll bar brackets too) - 4 New tires, these probably have about 10,000 miles on them, so plenty of life left. - The wheel alignment was done when I got the tires, but they did a crap job of it and it cause the outside of the tires to scrub a bit. I just had the alignment done again a couple of months ago. It's good now although the rack couldn't have been properly centralised as it turns a little more on one lock that the other. But its not a problem it drives straight, handles well, and does not pull. - New rear brake shoes and wheel cyclinder seals. - Replacement radiator and top hose The car is very reliable and drives very well. I expect the only thing it will need doing to pass a safety inspection is replacement of the blowing muffler. I had to do a safety inspection on the vehicle when I brought it to Toronto last summer and it passed that just needing the rear brakes fixing and the replacement Track Control Arms. The most important thing about this car is it is nice and solid with no rot. I've worked on a lot of Capris and this one is solid in all the usual Capri rust spots. The head light bowls, strut tops, floors, A pillars and spring hangers are all in pretty good shape. The previous owner of this car put up a lot of pictures online when he was selling it and you can see them here: http://s273.photobucket.com/albums/jj237/Rexalot/Capri/ In the year or so I've owned it there has been no noticeable degreation of these areas so the pictures can all still be considered current. The car is on Toronto plates just now and I can give you the signed Ontario Title document for the change of ownership. If you don't live in Ontario you'll have to investigate what is required to get it into your state/province. I'm looking for a 10% deposit within 24 hours of auction ending by paypal and the remainder in cash on collection. I'd prefer Canadian dollars but I'd except US at the current exchange rate. Currently the car is in dry storage on the other side of town where its cheaper to store. I really need this car collecting on the weekend of the 8th of October or before. After that time I don't have any storage arranged so if it's not collected I have to try and work something else out. I'm very sad to see this Capri go, but it's just too nice a car to keep outside. I can't really justify the garaging costs here in Montreal so it has to go to a new home. I'm a massive Capri fan and still own a Capri back in Scotland which I use when I go back to visit my family. If anyone wants to verify my integrity you can find me under the username Beakster on the Capri forum that I run, www.fordcapriforum.com and I also set up www.capriwiki.com Please feel free to ask any questions you have. If you need to call me then please call in the evenings after 7pm (except Monday and Wendesday when after 9pm is better) or anytime at weekends on 438 823 5775 (Chris). Contacting me through ebay is the fastest way to get a response during the day. Happy Bidding. On 26-Sep-11 at 23:21:10 EDT, seller added the following information: A couple of things I forgot to mention... The car has some nice after market speakers fitted in the door cards and in the back. One of the speaker grills is missing from the door card. As you can see from the interior picture the cover of the drivers seat has separated on the seat base.On 01-Oct-11 at 10:08:20 EDT, seller added the following information: Please note that the mileage of around 90,000 is in Miles (because the car is from the US) not Kilometers. I hadn't realised ebay.ca only displays a label of "Kilometers" next to the mileage. As the car is from the US it has Miles on the odometers and the big numbers on the speedo, and Kilometers on the small numbers around the inside. Note that its "around" 90,000 miles, I can't remember which exactly and the storage I put the car in last month here in Montreal doesn't allow regular access so I won't see it until the buyer is collecting. It is definitely not more than 100,000 miles, and I'm pretty sure it's not much over 90,000 miles. So the new owner will get to watch the clock roll over.
