Up for auction is an original, show quality clean ,1966 Volkswagen Sun Bug. I am the second owner of the car. The car was originally owned by a woman who used it mostly on vacation at her summer home in Vermont .The balance of the time she lived in the city and relied mostly on public transportation. The car was purchased at Charles Weis INC. Queens Village, New York. The woman drove the car up to the point where she scuffed the fender and her Nephew took the car away from her for fear of her safety. I hold the original registration, owners manual, service book, and license plate frame from Weis VW. I purchased the car and had it painted as the original paint was faded from years of use. I drove and showed the car a good deal in the 1990's I won about 50 awards with the car being judged on it's originality. I had the original engine rebuilt and did it prior to it needing to be line bored. I replaced the rods, bearings, races, and had the cylinder heads rebuilt. The following year I was able to locate NOS German Mahle 77mm pistons and cylinders to maintain the 1300 CC status provided only in 1966. In early 2000's the paint was showing signs of ware and was in need of some hidden rust removal. We stripped the paint down to bare metal and refinished the car in it's original ruby red fleet color. The Seats are the original that came with the car in 1966 with the exception of the basketweave which was replaced by a local upolhstery shop. The carpet set was replaced with German Square weave wool and I purchased a set of grey NOS floor mats. The exhaust is all ceramic coated and the muffler sports a VW emblem like the one that came on the car. This car is the real deal, always garaged and maintained in show condition since I've owned it.
