1982 Turbo VW Vanagon Westfalia camper. I purchased this Westy about four years ago from a local VW mechanic. He had owned it for quite some time and had converted it from a naturally aspirated 1.6 diesel to a 2.0 liter gas engine. The engine swap consists of a 2000 Jetta 2.0 inline bottom end with a GTI head that had 6K when installed(approx. 20K currently, this vanagon is turboed via a Chysler turbo with internal waste gate that blows through a dellorto 45 carburetor mounted to a custom intake, The engine is mounted using all stock VW mounting brakets. This van really is a blast to drive and gets out of its own way, will easily cruise 70 down the highway or faster if desired and does pass Arizona emission standards. The transaxle has just been rebuilt and a new clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing installed. Vehicle has GHL stainless exhaust. The engine has also had new timing belt and tensioner and plugs installed. Just replaced the high and low radiator fan switches, Engine also has A/C compressor installed but that is it for the a/c will include a few other components with the sale.Tires have lots of life and one is brand new, they are 27X8.5/14's. Also included are 4 late model vw golf steel 15inch wheels that I had the centers machined to clear the vans hubs. The interior is in very nice original condition, sleeps four people with an upper and lower bed, plenty of storage, a stove and fridge and sink that I have not used recently but were functioning and tables to eat at. Several aftermarket guages installed, boost guage, temp guage, oil press and tachometer. The top canvas does have one tear on the front picture included. All factory curtains are present and in excellent condition including the two curtains that snap around the front windows and slider door. Also in very nice condition is the rear snap on screen for camping with the rear hatch open. Windows tinted. The stereo is a detachable face cassette deck and there are 4 kenwood speakers, subwoofer and an amplifier installed in the westy. Vehicle has late model vanagon front and rear bumpers. The brakes including the rotors,drums, pads and shoes as well as the shocks were all replaced around the time I purchased this vehicle, all still in excellent condition. The brake booster and speedo cable were replaced recently as well as oil and filter and new gear lube in trans.. I also had the vanagon repainted approx. 3 years ago. It is very solid and rust free being from AZ its whole life. It has a reciever hitch and plug for towing if so desired, I used the hitch for my bicycle rack for the numerous cycling trips I have taken. I have enjoyed travelling around the southwest in the camper and will hate to see it go, it is a blast to drive and to go camping in. Also included are the owners manuals and misc. camping gear.
