Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 2002 S10 pickup. She has about 104k on the clock and I am the only owner. The milage of 104,538 is an approximation. I am not sure of the exact milage, it is in the 104,xxx range. All maintenance and related repairs have been done by me. I will cover the good and the bad and I'll try not to leave anything out. She was my daily driver up until a couple months ago, but with the purchase of a new car, I no longer have the time to keep maintaining the truck. About the truck, the good:She was born as a S10 Xtreme, but the body kit was removed years ago when I lowered it. It was lowered 2 inches with Belltech spindles in the front and 3 inchs with drop blocks in the rear. All four shocks have been replaced with Belltech street performance shocks, and the front sway bar bushings and links have been replaced with Moog parts. The upper control arms have been replaced due to the bushings being dry rotted and old. They are under 2 years old. All four tires are Bridgestone Potenza G019, 215/60/R16. That is NOT the size the truck came with. I downsized due to rubbing issues with a wider tire from the truck being lowered. They are also under two years old. The intake gaskets were replaced last winter. A full tune-up was also done at that time. The belt driven fan was removed and dual electric fans were put in. The fan is wired to a thermal switch, thru a relay. The stock air box has been long gone and a cone filter took it's place. The truck was built with an automatic transmission, but it was replaced with a 5 speed last summer. The transmission, shifter, console and shifter boot are all out of a 2003. The transmission had 40k on it when I bought it. The clutch is smooth and shifts fine. The rear frame has been notched with bolt on notches from Suicide Doors. They have been welded to the frame and painted over. About the truck, the bad:There are rivet holes in the bottom of the cab and bed body line from where the body kit was mounted. She has a minor oil leak. The oil pan has some seepage, as do the valve cover gaskets. The oil cooler lines were replaced around 4 years ago, but those are starting to show sings of a leak as well. In 3k miles the truck is about half a quart low on oil, so the leak is not that bad. The cruise control was removed. When I mounted the clutch fluid resovior I had to remove the cruise control and I never reinstalled it. The gauge cluster and steering column haven't been replaced with manual truck components. The cluster still shows PNRD32L, always highlighting 2 while driving. And the steering column has an opening on the right side where the shifter used to be. The handle for the 3rd door is broken and has been broken for years. I rarely used the extended portion of the cab so I never got around to replacing it. Also the tailgate handle is broken. The tailgate is still functional, just the handle is gone. The body has some dents and dings and the bed paint is scratched up. I used the bed for what it was made for, to move things, and the paint just got beat up thru the years. The check engine light is on because the computer is looking for torque convertor clutch solenoids and shift solenoids which are no longer there with the 5 speed. I bought a manual ECM, I just never figured out how to get rid of the light. The ECM and full wire harness is included with the sale. The inspection on the truck has been overdue since September of 2010. It was never inspected due to the check engine light. Sometimes on cold mornings on startup the engine has a little valve tap which goes away once it warms up. There is a bearing type sound, maybe the pilot bearing in the trans, when you are slowing down coming to a stop. It is the buyers responsibility to deal with the check engine light, inspect the truck, and provide transportation for it once it is sold. I will no longer assume any responsibility once it is sold.
