Vehicle Detail

I am selling my beautiful MG TD/C. This incredible automobile presents itself as new - inside, outside, under the hood and underneath the car. It is simply a spectacular looking and driving car. I have priced this car extremely competitively. It will sell for less than its actual value. This is a rare factory-prepped competition TD, known as the TD/C or "Mark II". The Competition ("C") package distinguished itself from standard TD's with a higher-horsepower XPAG 1250 cc engine (later made standard in the early MG TF's) mated to a 4 - speed transmission. This engine included a higher compression ratio, larger intake and exhaust valves, and larger twin 1.5" SU carburators. In addition, the TD/C had twin SU fuel pumps, additional Andrex front shock absorbers, and a standard 4.875:1 rear axle ratio for greater high speeds (the standard TD had a 5.125:1 ratio). Note that this car has the optional 4.55:1 rear gear for even better speed on today's roads. While this automobile does not have its original engine, it sports a correct XPAG 1250cc engine (numbered XPAG 32272 out of a 1954 MG TF, VIN TF2441) with the aforesaid factory modifications that were standard in the Competition model (it was not uncommon for competition cars in the 1950's to swap engines). This beautiful car received a 100% professional, frame-off cosmetic and mechanical restoration 700 miles ago in 2005. It has enjoyed proper storage ever since and has been driven only on sunny days. Every single nut and bolt is new. The wood frame is all new (Moss) and was varnished prior to assembly. Wiring is all new. All instruments were rebuilt. All the hydraulics, including lines, are new. All of the running gear is powder coated in satin black. Even the wheels are powder coated. The underside of this car is as pretty as the topside. In 2011 a high-quality cloth top and side curtains were installed. It looks gorgeous on this car. This TD/C starts and runs beautifully. It travels down the road with stability and without wander or shimmy, and provides the driver with the incredible sensation of what it must have been like to drive a brand new TD/C in 1952. Driving a TD is the essential sports car experience. That's why many publications include a T-Series MG on their list of all-time great sports cars. Included in the sale are the engine-compartment tool kit, the original owners manual (along with a reproduction manual), a shop manual, the engine crank, and the jack assembly for lifting the car to change tires. I will also inlcude new but never installed light/badge bar, Lucas fog lights, radiator cap wrench, and miscellaneous other parts. NOTE: Also included is a rare set of Whitworth wrenches! Those are worth over $200. Legal: Successful bidder must deliver a $500.00 deposit within 48 hours of the end of bidding. The balance of the purchase price must be delivered within seven days of the end of bidding. Do not bid unless you have already lined up your financial arrangements. Do not bid if you have a negative rating without contacting me first - failure to contact me could invalidate your bid. The car is easily shipped anywhere in the country. There are many shippers available on line. I have used Intercity Lines a number of times with great success, but there are other very good shippers out there. I will work with the successful bidder to have the car available for pickup. The car has clear title with no liens, and is sold as-is. Questions? Call me (Joe) at 207-671-8215, or e-mail me at jattura@firstam.com. I am frequently in meetings so if you call and get my message, leave a message and state your name and number clearly and I will call you back. Be sure to ask all questions before bidding! Thanks for looking, and good luck bidding!
