charvetmagic store 1926 Chevrolet Superior V Two-Door Sedan - EXCELLENT! 1926 Chevrolet Superior V 2-Door Sedan/CoachThroughout the 1920's Chevrolet sales had been steadily creeping up on the Ford Model T. By 1926, with $8 million earmarked by General Motors to make them more competitive with Ford, the easier-to-drive and more modern Chevys were supplanting the "T" as America's favorite car. Introduced in mid-1926, the Superior Series V cars offered an advanced overhead-valve 4 cylinder 20 horsepower engine, 3 speed selective sliding transmission, innovative belt driven generator, cam operated oil pump and a host of accessores including a walnut steering wheel, Klaxon horns and optional wood spoked wheels, and most notably a rainbow of exterior lacquer paint color choices as opposed to the (up to 1925) monochromatic ("any color you want as long as it's black") Model T. Chevrolet had a winner on its hands with production of over 732,000 cars in 1926.This particular car has spent most of its life in Oregon, although its early history is unknown. It is an older restoration (about 20-30 years ago) that was done to a high standard and has aged well. At the time of restoration the engine was said to have been rebuilt, which appears to be confirmed by the strong running condition that the car enjoys today. There are no unusual noises or smoke and good oil pressure. The car runs and drives as a 1926 Chevrolet should. While the mileage cannot be confirmed, the overall condition seems to verify the low mileage as correct. At the time of restoration the body was repainted in correct Biscay Green color. The paint has a nice patina which reflects the overall conditon of the car. It has had minimal use since restoration, always garaged and driven primarily as a parade vehicle. The body is in exceptional condition, showing no signs of accidents or damage and is rust-free. All of the glass is good and the windows operate properly. The interior is in very good condition with no rips or tears and showing only minimal use. The lights, horn, wipers and ammeter all work as they should. Tires are older and while in good condition would probably want to be replaced for extended driving.Recently, the carburetor and vacuum tank were rebuilt, the radiator was replaced and the wood wheels were beautifully refinished. It is a nicely preserved example of this now seldom-seen model of Chevrolet, which can be enjoyed for touring and would be a welcome exhibitor at any car show.
