Vehicle Detail
"They are only new once . . ." I am selling my very special L48/5.7L (matching numbers) with automatic 25th Silver Anniversary Corvette. An incredible survivor in original form, it has its original, beautiful B2Z anniversary paint - silver/charcoal gray with no crazing or cracking. The car was special ordered with the rare Mahogany interior option (it isn't red - it's more like a terra cotta. Very nice). The history from the day of delivery is known. It has had three private owners, none of which was a dealer. 33 years of careful covered indoor storage, maintenance, and sunny day driving result in an incredible time capsule car. It has never been hit, never been painted, never raced, and the engine compartment looks like it did sitting in the showroom. The pictures describe the beautiful interior with no rips or tears, and the underside of the car is immaculate. Based on the engine compartment and underside condition, I see no evidence that this car was ever in the rain. Note the photo of the nose of this car - never touched, unlike so many others. While a coupe, it has easily removable T-Tops that turn this car into a great open-air cruiser. The car will come with the original build sheet, dealer's order form, invoice, owners manual, showroom brochure, warranty pamphlet, etc. I also will include the orginal mufflers, valve covers, and some other parts that have been replaced. This Silver Anniversary starts, runs and drives like it did in 1978. It cruises effortlessly and smoothly on the highway at 75 mph (3200rpm) - it tracks straight and true with no wandering and no shimmies. The engine fires instantly from cold or hot, and there is no smoke or bad behavior from start-up until you turn it off after a drive. The transmission shifts perfectly, the brakes act as new with complete balance, and the car maintains it's cool temp, no matter how hot a day it is. The brakes have been recently redone, and two new reproduction mufflers were added within the past 1000 miles. In 2011 the car received a new shifter seal, fluid and filter in the transmission, a servicing of the R134 converted air conditioning (blows factory cold), and new BF Goodrich Radial T/A 225/70-15 tires (same size as factory originals). Everything works - power windows, wipers, gauges, headlamp assemblies, radio, power antenna, etc. The only thing I see wrong is the clock runs fast - but it runs, and if that bothers you there are numerous after-market Corvette catalogs that offer an exact replacement. This is a no-excuses car that could be driven as a daily driver. It is much more comfortable to drive than the early Corvettes, as it has power steering, power brakes, power windows, air conditioning, electronic ignition, dual zone master cylinder, tilt and telescopic wheel, and many other original design elements that make these cars more usuable than their earlier counterparts. 1978 was the first year of the fastback glass, which not only makes the car look better, but adds room behind the seats for storage. While everyone has their own opinion, I like the look of the '78 and '79 Corvettes as those were the only two years that incorporated the cleaner front end of the earlier cars with the new backglass. This Corvette is a true original survivor that does not need any restoration, yet people who see it will assume it has been completely restored. As the saying goes, they are only original once, and for the person looking for a perfect survivor of this model, this car is as good as it gets. The other added bonus is the vast after-market parts availability for this car, down to some of the most detailed parts, be they mechanical, interior, body, suspension, etc. Equipment: L48 5.7 liter 350ci 4 barrel V8; automatic transmission; air conditioning; convenience group; soft-ray tinted glass; clock; power antenna; power windows; power steering; power brakes; sport mirrors; passenger side vanity mirror; cruise control; tilt/telescopic wheel; locking glove box; AM/FM radio; alloy wheels; rear defogger; upgraded stainless steel braided brake hoses; stainless steel exhaust (rear Y-pipe and mufflers); 2010 battery. Legal: Successful bidder must deliver a $500.00 deposit within 48 hours of close of bidding. The balance of the purchase price must be delivered within seven days of the close of bidding. Do not bid unless you have already lined up your financial arrangements. Do not bid if you have a negative rating, or a total rating under 3, without contacting me first - failure to contact me before you bid could invalidate your bid. The car is easily shipped anywhere in the USA or Canada. I will not sell the car outside the USA or Canada. I will accomodate getting the car to the shipping truck, but shipping is the high bidder's responsibility.Title on the car is clear, and there are no liens. Note that I am advertising this car locally as well. Finally, while this is a beautiful car it is 33 years old and as such is sold as-is, without warranty, express or implied. Questions?
