Vehicle Detail

charvetmagic store 1940 Buick Model 81 Limited. UNRESTORED. NO RESERVE! 1940 Buick Model 81 Limited Touring Sedan - NO RESERVE. NO RESERVE AUCTION - WILL SELL TO THE HIGH BIDDER. BID TO WIN! For 1940, Buick introduced the 80 Series "Limited" models on the Roadmaster 133 inch wheelbase. The Model 81 Limited 6 passenger Sedans were a high-end, limited production vehicle, of which only 3,180 were made. This was a car for the well-to-do who wanted luxurious transportation without the formality of a limousine. This particular car was purchased by a collector in southern Oregon 25 years ago with intention of restoring it to original condition. Work was started including some stripping of paint and removing the original engine and transmission and the acquisition of a second correct engine and transmission to be used for any needed parts. The unexpected death of the owner several years ago stopped progress on the car. It has remained in a heated warehouse since that time. The car appears to be solid and complete. NO rust-out. Has been in dry storage for more than 25 years. The body is straight and doors close easily and tightly with good panel fit. The rear fenders have some old minor damage. Floors and trunk are solid. Lower outside lip of the trunk also needs minor repair. It appears that most all of the trim, stainless, bumpers and garnish moldings are with the car. Original interior appears complete (Including radio and heater) with exception of the clock. Upholstery can be used for patterns. Rare dual side-mounted spare tire covers are included (covers only - no spare tires or rims, although they are readily available.) Running boards are solid and in good condition. Please see photos for an accurate look at the current condition. There are TWO complete Buick straight 8 engines included with the car. One is the original from the car and the second appears to have had the cylinders bored. Both engines include starters, generators, distributors, carburetors, manifolds, fuel pumps, oil pumps, water pumps, fans, etc. plus TWO original Buick transmissions. Rebuild one engine for the car and sell the other, or keep for extra parts. The choice is yours. Both engines and accompanying parts are crated for easy shipment with the car. While needing a full restoration, this car appears complete and should prove to be a straight-forward project, with the results being a rare and highly-desirable Buick from one of the most popular model years. For your information, NADA values a restored Model 81 Sedan today in the $43,000+ range. The final photo here shows a similar restored Model 81 and what this car could look like in the right hands. Will it be yours? This car is recognized as a Full Classic® by the Classic Car Club of America, due to its limited production and luxurious appointments. These cars are fast, comfortable, reliable and perfect for long distance touring. As the car has been stored and unregistered for many years, it is sold with a bill of sale only. An affidavit of ownership will be signed by the family of deceased owner. The car is being listed with NO RESERVE. THE HIGH BIDDER WILL OWN THE CAR. BID TO WIN! Thanks for looking and GOOD LUCK! *** I am listing this car for a friend. Please ask any questions before bidding and they will be directed to him. The car is available for inspection by serious bidders before the close of the auction. It is located in Portland, Oregon. Please call David at 503-309-7729 between 9am and 9pm Pacific Time. While accurately described to the best of our knowledge, this car is sold as-is, with no warranties of any kind. While it appears to be complete from our visual inspection, the car has been stored for many years and some small items may not be present, or may need to be replaced during the restoration process. Mileage listed is that showing on the odometer and cannot be verified at this date. High bidder please contact us within 24 hours. A $500 non-refundable deposit is due at that time. Balance due within 7 days of auction close. This car is not running and has been unregistered for many years, so is sold with a signed Bill of Sale. No games, no hassles. We expect the same from the buyer. Our 100% positive feedback and eBay selling record since 1998 are your assurance of a smooth transaction. The two engines and spare parts are crated. Transportation is the responsibility of the buyer and not included in the auction price. Car and parts to be picked up within 30 days.
