Vehicle Detail
Hi, I bought this 1973 Chevrolet Vega LT last year and was going to build it into a V8 Vega for a customer, but the deal fell through. This ’73 Chevy Vega LT is a roller (no engine or transmission) with a stock factory rearend. I cut off the stock exhaust system when I started working on it for my customer, so with no engine, trans and exhaust, it is ready for you to drop in your V8. I own a white 1972 Vega LT, that is almost as nice as this one, that I am keeping for myself - so, I can let this one go. I like white. This LT shows 57,363 actual miles, which was verified by the previous owner. This is also very believable due to the car’s amazing condition and the fact that most So. Cal. Vegas from this era didn’t last more than around 60,000 miles before the block melted down - especially factory a/c Vegas, like this one. I caught this one just before the previous owner started really taking the interior apart. It is one of the nicest black interior Vegas you will find anywhere. The front seats have been really nicely reupholstered in a soft material. Both door panels are perfect and the rear seat has only one small rip - other than that, it is perfect. The rear panels next to the seats have holes cut for speakers from decades ago. It has a nice new carpet. The dash is really nice with beautiful gauges and only one crack in the dashpad. This Southern California Vega was a factory air conditioning car and still has the parts in it, but the radio was cut out of the plastic underdash. The A/C vents up top were gone when I got it (I always put three 2” S-W gauges in that area anyway). This Vega has perfect floors and almost zero rust. The only rust is in the windshield pillar and base areas (see pics for worst spots on car - they aren't bad. What is too bad is the previous owner started sanding the driver's side pillar, which it makes it look worse than it is). The battery box also has rust, but that’s really about it. The rust seen in the trunk area is just surface, but I would get on it asap. As Neil Young says, “rust never sleeps.” There is rust in the battery tray (another common Vega rust area). The trunk area is solid with surface rust, but no rust through as far as I can tell. That's about it. The floors are unreal. Look at the rocker panels and the bottoms of the front fenders. This Vega is dry as a bone. The paint you see is the factory paint and it is pretty darned presentable. The roof, hood and hatch are a bit faded, but the sides are nice and bright and shiny. The front plastic valance is perfect without a single crack. The rear valance is cracked in a few places, but it is all there and easy to restore. I have never owned a Vega with a perfect rear valance and I have owned some of the nicest 1971-73 Vegas in the world. It isn’t really noticeable until you really get close to it. The rocker panels are really nice and the car is very straight. It has nice original wheels and hubcaps and a nearly-new set of four Yokohama radial tires on it. Vegas in this condition are gone from even Southern California - either they have serious rust by now (yes, even here in So. Cal.) or they were found a long time ago and shipped out. Finding a ’73 Vega LT hatchback in this condition today is tough. You won’t find a nicer unrestored Vega anywhere - well, not for this price anyway. As I said, I was going to build this car for a customer, so I wanted to start with the nicest Vega I could find to make the job easy on myself. Enough said. Look at the pics. Great car to build into a V8 Vega or restore. Buy it Now is priced for quick sale and is about what I have in it at $3295 Finally: this is a 38-year old used vehicle and is being auctioned (sold) AS-IS. No warranty is expressed or implied. No returns. The vehicle is available for inspection by your mechanic/representative 7 days a week until the auction ends. I can help with transportation and am willing to store the vehicle for free for up to three weeks while you arrange shipping. See eBayease for more. If you have any questions, please call me: (626) 716-7780 (until 9:00 P.M. P.S.T., please - I wake up early) or e-mail me: timgavern@gmail.com. I also have this Vega listed locally on Craig's List and reserve the right to end the auction early if a local buys it. Good luck and thanks! Thanks for checking it out and happy bidding! Tim I apologize in advance for the following eBayease – just keepin’ it real. 1. Please ask any questions BEFORE you bid. 2. Please do not bid if you are not financially prepared to purchase this item. Thanks. 3. Please contact me within 24 hours to let me know how you plan to pay. If you win a vehicle auction, please follow the directions. You MUST pay the deposit within 24 hours or I will consider you a non-paying bidder and take appropriate action. 4. Items must be paid for within 7 days. If payment is not made within 7 days, a dispute will be filed. Of course, I realize that stuff happens: therefore, if you need more time, please contact me and I will probably give you extra time to pay. 5. Payment methods accepted: PayPal. Also, cash is good if you are picking up the item. I DO NOT accept: personal or business checks of any kind – too many hassles in the past. Sorry. For vehicle auctions, a cashier’s check is acceptable, but the vehicle goes nowhere until the check is determined to be legitimate and payment in full is in my bank account. 6. I highly recommend insurance and tracking (additional cost unless otherwise noted). I am NOT responsible for uninsured items lost in shipping. 7. I will always combine multiple purchases for one shipping cost. 8. Usually, there are no additional charges, but, sometimes a small handling charge may be added if an item requires extra packing materials or a specially-purchased box, etc. Of course, I will let you know, up front, if there is any additional charge. 9. Many of my items will also be listed for sale locally on Craig’s List and may sell while an auction is running. Therefore, I reserve the right to cancel an auction at any time. If you really want it, use "Buy It Now" if it is available. 10. Please note that I only ship once a week - usually on Friday. Please try to get your payment to me before Friday, so I can ship it out the same week. Thanks! 11. I appreciate your business and want you to be happy with your purchase. Please let us know if there is a problem and I will do everything we can to resolve it. 12. Most of the items I sell are vintage and will not be 100% perfect. Items are sold, "as is". I carefully examine each item and describe and photograph it as best as I can, therefore, refunds will be at my discretion and only if I really blew it on the description (i.e. left out a very significant detail, etc.). Just consider my policy to be, “no refunds of any kind”. 13. I have shipped many cars to several countries and currently recommend uship dot com for the best shipping prices (I am in Monrovia, California 91016). If you win one of my vehicle auctions, I would really appreciate it shipping out within 2-3 weeks, so start getting quotes NOW. After three weeks of storage (from date of auction’s end), I will require a $100 storage fee per month (via PayPal) before I will release the vehicle to your shipper. This is only fair since storage in Los Angeles is so expensive. Please be sure to check out the other rare and interesting goodies listed on eBay, too. Again, thanks again for looking and good luck!
