Vehicle Detail
I have been reluctant to sell..but it really must go. I really didn't want to sell the car because I feel it is worth more than the market will bring. The car has 118K miles (the odometer reads 190k in KM). I believe this to be accurate/ original mileage. I bought this car 4 years ago and have enjoyed it as a weekend car and ocassionally commuting to work on nice days. It is a very interesting car as everything is in German, the gauges/ warning lights etc. It was brought to the states in 1984 via the port of SC. I have owned several Porsches and have to say this is one of my favorites. A truly unappreciated car and is still fast even by today's standards. It has a few more HP than the American version, starts with a growl, and has great power. Don't let the automatic fool you, these MB boxes give you the gear of your choice immediately. Another interesting aspect of this car is the spoiler and body treatments, they were added to the car in Germany, but I'm not sure of much else other than you rarely see them. The car is Petrol blue which in my opinion is one of the coolest colors, sometimes it looks blue, sometimes it looks green. The car is not perfect paint wise and there are areas that need attention, but after a nice polish the car still presents well. Rust is no issue at all the undercarriage looks amazing. Mechanically the car is in great shape, I would not hesitate a long trip at all. The interior shows wear but again is presentable and with a little work could be spruced up nicely. It is black leather throughout (thank goodness cause I don't think I could deal with that checkered stuff). So what does it need? Well, it will need brake pads and the muffler may need to replaced or repaired. The pass side window switch is broken but the motor is fine, just needs a new switch. Other than that, just minor cosmetic stuff here and there. I have the documentation of when it was imported to the states, the owner's manual and other related stuff. The original spare is there along with the jack, air pump, original emergency kit with belts and two spark plugs. The tool kit is partially complete but my son ran off with the pliers to 'fix his bike' today..he is only five, so I can't be too mad about it, but if I find them I will put them back in the tray (I found the pliers! so they are there now too). Oh, and I also have copies of the service manuals that come with it too. The reserve is set to what I think is fair and I would encourage anyone that is interested to come by (if possible) and take a look. Otherwise, I will do my best to answer any questions. But please check with the wife/ mom/ dad/ girlfriend/ boyfriend and most importantly with your wallet before placing a bid. As indicated, I would strongly advise coming by to be sure this is something of interest before placing a bid. By placing a bid you are agreeing to buy it not come and look at it. And please, no joy ride seekers or tire kickers. Finally, it is for sale locally so, I reserve the right to end the auction early. I will include a new set of brake pads on a buy it now. The car is still driveable, but they should be changed soon. I hope to have some addtional pics up shortly. Thanks for looking!! Best, Rob rchamb1060@aol.com On Aug-21-11 at 11:33:27 PDT, seller added the following information: Reserve has been lowered to just above current bid and buy it now lowered to the locally advertised price. This is a great car and I really did not want to sell for less than $4500 but it must go.
