Vehicle Detail
Hey! … Check out my Woody! - 1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Here’s your opportunity to own a piece of American history! I am the second owner of this GW, and I purchased it in 1999. She still runs great on the original engine with 136,000 miles, and the new tires have only 500 miles on them. The body and chassis are major RUST-FREE, with only minor dings and chips with a little rust here and there as seen in the photos. This Jeep would be a great candidate for a full restoration for someone with a garage and the time/tools/talent! There is a lot to love about the truck, but it is not without several minor issues as noted below that are typical of a vehicle of this age. The Jeep is therefore sold as-is with no warranty. Here are the details: Known issues: Three of the four power windows do not work. I use suction cups to hold the windows up or down as you can see in the pics. The motors still work and these can be repaired, but I have done this several times over the years already and am tired of messing with them. They require a $25 nylon geared tape and a few hours of labor (per window) The right-rear and the rear tailgate power window still work fine. There is a slight exhaust leak from the right side engine exhaust manifold, which is most evident when you start it and until it warms up. You cannot hear it at highway speeds. Like the windows, this is something I have repaired myself in the past (with new air tubes and gaskets) but I no longer have a garage or the time to work on it anymore. The cruise control does not work. It did when I got it but I never bothered with fixing it. The gas gauge has never worked since I have had it - needs a new sending unit installed in the tank. It has about a 200 mile range on a full tank so I just make sure I don’t go over 150 miles between fill-ups. The electronic compass in the headliner has only worked intermittently since I had the headliner replaced a few years ago. The front turn signal housings are cracked where the lens screws in. I just run amber bulbs and leave the lenses off. The new owner may want to get new housings. The old lenses are included as shown. There is a 9” crack in the windshield – drivers side as shown in the pics. Obvious wear-and-tear stuff – drivers seat upholstery is pretty torn up, rubber seals around windows/doors dry-rotted etc. Now the good stuff. Other than these known issues above, I have kept up with the mechanical upkeep along with regular oil and filter changes, as well as: New tires New oversize radiator New water pump Carburetor replaced about 5 years ago Exhaust replaced about 4 years ago Hoses and belts replaced in the past few years, with new points, plugs and wires. All fluids topped off with very minimal leaks Cold A/C 4X4 system/transfer case works great! This is a no reserve auction, so the highest bidder above the modest asking price takes it! As-is, no warranty, no personal checks and no delivery is available, so I would prefer a local buyer. $500 deposit by Paypal due within 48 hours of auction close. Payment is due in full on delivery in cash or certified check. Please ask any questions and I will respnd quickly. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding! On Aug-18-11 at 16:20:57 PDT, seller added the following information: I have added some pics that represent the underbody condition of the GW as requested by several eBayers, showing that the frame and body are free of major rust. There is NO major rust in any body panel or frame component. I have pictured the WORST spot I could find, where the fuel tank skid plate attaches to the frame rail. You can see the paint/undercoating has flaked off the frame in this spot where the skid plate attaches. Long-term, the new owner may want to replace this shield and the original gas tank and re-undercoat, which will give you a good excuse to replace the fuel level sending unit to make the gas gauge work again (as mentioned in the "Known issues" above originally.) This is a classic vehicle that drives and handles well, just looking for a new loving home to enjoy it and hopefully care for and preserve it for the future. I have put a lot of time and effort into representing this Waggy honestly so you can bid accordingly - and I'm sure the asking price is fair, so please take the time to READ everything I have written before asking questions. Most I have been getting are already answered in the body of the listing, or by checking the free Vehicle History Report in the listing. :)
