Vehicle Detail
1959 Lark Low Milage Survivor For your consideration here's a low milage '59 Studebaker Lark 4 door sedan. This is the Deluxe trim, 170 cid six cylinder with a three speed manual tranny. Original 28,800 miles. Final assembley date March 3, 1959. This was sold new in East McKeesport PA in September 1959, driven locally til the original owner's death in 1966. At that time it has 27,500 miles on it. It was left sitting in the garage til 1997 when it was bought by a man in Maryland who went through it replacing all the things that deteriorate while setting. He used it very little but kept it maintained well. Now it has a little over 28,800 miles on it. The paint is mostly original other than a few spots which were touched up. This was a spring color, Alaskan Blue. Options include the padded dash, Hillholder, Twin Traction rear, undercoating,Climatizer, CIgar lighter and electric wipers. This info is from the build sheet that comes with. McKeesport is a very hilly part of the state and this was made for climbing mountains. The rear end gears are 4:10 and it does not have overdrive. So... it's no highway speed car, unless you change out the rear or put in overdrive. It does however run very well and drives nicely. The interior is all original and while not perfect it's very presentable. Not torn up or shabby. The glass is all good, the chrome very decent. Tires are all very good and it drives and rides nice. In the photos of the trunk you will see one side is painted black. This was after a fender bender that the original owner had. The outside was repainted the right color, whay they didn't do the inside I don't know. It was this was when the second owner got it and has never been changed. While not a show car this is a great cruise-in ride or driver and will turn heads everwhere you go. You will need to pick the car up. It is very driveable but I would suggest trailering it due to the low gearing.
