Vehicle Detail
This black short wheel base BMW R75/5 motorcycle is looking for new care taker. If you’re looking for the kind of ride that gets looks and comments everywhere you go this is the bike for you. It does not matter whether they are Harley people of show car guys they all love this old BMW. I have never ridden or driven anything that has gotten the attention that this bike gets. I purchased it about 6 years ago from a lot in Akron. Prior to that time I do not know anything about this bike except that it was obviously well cared for and the lot purchased it from a man in Wooster. Like most BMW motorcycle this bike lives up to their legendary reliability. I have not had to fix one mechanical thing on this bike since I bought it 6 seasons ago. Change the oil/filter, hook up the trickle charger, and put stabilizer in the fuel in the fall and in the spring it will start after two or three cranks. After the initial start in the spring it generally starts after the first step on the kick starter. (The electric start works fine but kick starters are so much cooler) I have completely lubed this bike annually. All other maintenance has been done by the BMW shop in Wooster. Mechanically this bike is sound and needs for nothing. I have driven it out of state on a few occasions. You could buy today and drive anywhere Cosmetically this bike is in excellent shape for its age. The tanks paint has been recently been redone do to wear from the previous owners belt buckle. The tanks pin strips are stick on automotive strips. (They could be removed easily) The frame and fenders still have the original finish and pin strips. There are some chips in the original finish that are not going to buff out. Over all the paint work is in very good condition considering 40 plus years of age. The engine leaks no lubricating fluids. One carburetor will drip just a bit if you forget to turn off both petcocks. One fin has a small broken spot that does not effect the operation or cooling. There is one reflector and its base missing from the original turn signal housing. I do not have the original mirrors. The bar end mirrors work better and look cooler so I just never worried about it. I think the reflector, base and mirror are available from Blue Moon Cycle. The tires are Bridgestone Spitfires with only about 500 miles on them. The rubber accordion covers are in like new shape with not rips tears or dry rot. The bike comes with the original BMW tool kit, the very rare original tire pump, and the pivot grease gun. (This is the first pivot greaser I have ever seen) Included is a Corbin Gunslinger saddle I bought for the bike but desided against taking pictures with it on. I would find it hard to believe that you will find a better condition R75/5 anywhere outside a museum or serious private collection. I will work with your shipper but you must do the leg work and it must ship from my location on its wheels. I will not crate the bike and deliver it to a local shipping center. You are free to come drive it away. I can pick you up from the local airport (Akron Canton Regional CAK). I can help you find local lodging if needed. If you call prior to purchase we might be able to come to other arrangements. You are welcome to call me with questions or to arrange to see the bike. (330) 497-9072 Keep in mind in some states this bike is eligable for Historic Plates and collectables insurance which saves you money every year. The other thought an watcher brought up is that a collectable BMW appreciates every year instead of depreciating. I require a 500 deposit via pay-pal upon purchase and cash or bank issued certified check for the remaining amount within 10 days. I will store the bike for up to a month for you to arrange shipment if needed.
