Vehicle Detail
Why a starting bid of $2,500? Because I am SELLING my Rx-7, NOT giving it away. (and I also detest the low-starting-bid auction bullsh*t - what a waste of time!) This is a No-Reserve auction. I am reluctantly offering my rust-free, top-jewel play-toy for sale (The Great Recession is trying to claim another victim). Although I've been the owner for only the last three years, I have known this car for at least 17 years. That's when I did a front-to-back, top-to-bottom initial restoration of this very early build date Rx-7 (Sept -78). I have every record from the original owner's first years, and a full history since 1994. I know every nut and bolt on this beast! FEATURE-DUMP: Mildly ported 13B engine, with RB Holley 4-bbl and intake, headers w/recent RB replacement muffler, Eibach springs and Tokico shock absorbers, '82 GSL LSD rear with disc brakes and stainless steel lines, 3-core radiator, new oil cooler, control arms & ball joints, tie-rods, and idler arm, brake master cyl, and both master & slave clutch cylinders, 14 inch '83 Limited Edition wheels. RECENT WORK: I replaced the noisy transmission and put in a new clutch assembly. New front brake rotors, bearings and pads (Hawks - at all 4 corners). Yokohama 205/60/R14 ES100 tires. New rear Tokico shocks. I put in a like-new 3-core radiator, and installed a new water pump and new oil pan to eliminate a couple of annoying leaks. This Rx-7 sat too long while I was recuperating from Achilles' tendon surgery & aftermath (blood clots in both lungs - not my idea of fun). Once I finally got healthy enough to work on the car, I found out that it had fuel delivery 'issues'. To eliminate that problem, I replaced the gunked-up gas tank, all rubber hoses, the fuel pump and filter. I also rebuilt the Holley carburator. HONESTY ALERT! That Holley carb has been a bear to sort out! I know when to quit before I do more harm than good. I've got the engine running at this time, but it's not yet in driveable condition. Therefore, I am including a FREE tow bar assembly so that the buyer can get it home without worry. You will need a 2 inch ball on your tow vehicle. The only other thing this car needs is to have the now-soft front Tokico struts replaced. In response to an earlier question: This Rx-7 comes with two complete sets of wheels & tires, The stock 13 inch '81-85 mags, and the 14 inch Limited Edition wheels. (I tossed the original, extremely hard to clean "snowflake" wheels into the recycle bin long ago.) QUESTIONS? Contact me via email at jameshull777@hotmail.com Thanks, Jim NOTE: Some folks have asked about the interior - It is the early two-tone maroon (burgundy, wine, whatever). The door panels are in excellent condition. The seats have been replaced with 1985 GSL-SE seats (gray, slip-covered maroon). The dash has one big crack, but I have a replacement stock dash the new owner can install. The carpeting and other plastic and vinyl are in good condition. The stock radio was upgraded some time ago. The rear carpet area is typically sun-faded. The center console/armrest has an elevated after-market piece attached. All glass is good, and all guages work as expected.
