Vehicle Detail

1970 BMW E3 2500 Sedan with M90 3.5 Ljet California car originally purchased in 1970 from Marvin Benn, Inc. BMW Factory Authorized Dealership in Lafayette, California. I purchased the car from the original owner in 1992 with 104,532 original miles on it and have meticulously cared for it and had it professionally upgraded since then. The odometer currently reads 152,129. That’s a total of 47,597 miles in 19 years of ownership, averaging approximately 2,505 miles per year. Less than 1,000 miles have been put on it per year since the rebuilt M90 3.5 litre Euro Ljet was installed in late 2002. Mechanically, the car is well sorted, starts and runs great, does not overheat with or without the AC on, drives nicely, and can get over 20mpg depending on your driving style. The car has not been abused or tracked, and has seldom been driven in the rain. All of the upgrade work has been done by BMW shops in northern California and northern Nevada – I have a shoebox of receipts documenting over $15,000 (or more) of parts, maintenance and upgrades since 1992. Upgrades include: Metric Mechanic 5 speed with later model output shaft – purchased new and installed in October 2000 (body mileage at 138,000) M3 short shifter and upgraded shift linkage – installed October 2000 Custom driveshaft – installed October 2000 M90 3.5 litre Euro Ljet – installed October 2002 through January 2003 (body mileage at 142,569) Hardy and Beck Headers, Jet Hot dipped and coated (with bung for future Motronic or MegaSquirt upgrade) – installed January 2003 Aluminum 3 core radiator – installed January 2003 Dinan front and adjustable rear sway bars with urethane bushings – installed July 2004 Bilstein shocks and Suspension Techniques Springs – installed July 2004 Leather interior with Recaros – 2005 Upgraded 528 brakes and vented rotors – installed 2006 Custom exhaust, free flow but quiet – installed July 2006 New Heater Core – installed May 2010 Upgraded AC with larger 528 evaporator and condenser (blows very cold) – installed June 2010 Auxiliary AC cooling fan – installed June 2010 15x7 BMW wheels with Yokohama tires New window felt – 2006 New sunroof seal Upgraded headlights and hi-output bulbs Body The car has been garaged it’s entire life with me, except for ONE NIGHT in 2003 when I parked it in the driveway and it was broken into – a screwdriver was used in the driver’s door lock and trunk lock and the stereo was stolen. The driver door lock cylinder was not replaced because the factory key still works in it. The trunk lock cylinder was replaced with and the factory key works with it. Both areas have some minor body damage. There WAS also one area of rust (approximately 2 inches long) on the passenger front fender under the hood that was repaired 10 years ago. There are a number of minor nicks in the paint, as well a spot on the passenger rear quarter panel where it was damaged by a space heater that fell from a shelf in the garage. I’ll never get over that one, it was just a stupid accident. Otherwise there is no rust in the shock towers or other areas of the body that I am aware of. However, this car deserves a paint job to finish it off. Interior There are no cracks in the dash and a carpet dash cover is included to keep it that way. There is no stereo in the car at this time, I removed it prior to installing the new heater core and have never installed a new one. However, the center console is cut for a DIN style receiver. The front kick panels have Infinity speakers installed and the rear parcel shelf has Pioneer speakers that match the color of the interior. The speakers are pre-wired to an Emerson Mobile 800 Watt/4 Channel amplifier located in the trunk. The blinkers don’t work, a new Hella/Bosch TBB3 flasher relay is needed. Please keep in mind that this is not a new vehicle and that it is sold as-is, where-is with no warrantees implied, stated, or otherwise intended. You are bidding to own this vehicle, not to come and look at it after the auction has ended. I encourage bidders to come and see the car if possible. You are welcome to have the car inspected at your expense prior to the conclusion of the auction. Remember, my descriptions are based on my knowledge of the car. I cannot say that it is without flaws. I don't care what classic car you are looking at, it will have flaws. I can assure you that this is a superb car that you can cherish for years to come. PLEASE BE ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN THAT YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT YOUR BID. IF YOU HAVE ZERO OR NEGATIVE FEEDBACK, YOU MUST CONTACT ME THROUGH EBAY PRIOR TO BIDDING. I WILL CANCEL YOUR BID IF YOU DO NOT. DO NOT BID ON THE CAR UNLESS YOU ARE PREPARED TO PURCHASE IT AS YOU ARE ENTERING INTO A BINDING AGREEMENT.
