We have the original owner’s manual, and a reproduction of the window sticker. This is a very, very nice original car. It has about 65,000 ORIGINAL miles. The overall condition of the car confirms the mileage. This is a very comfortable car and drives very nice. It has the original famous Olds Rocket 350 V-8 with 4 barrel and has plenty of power and also gets decent mileage at the same time. The car runs and drives beautifully…it handles nice…steering and suspension is tight...brakes don’t pull…and rides excellent. I believe this would go across country effortlessly. We drive the car several times per week. Exterior: The car is a gorgeous Midnight Blue metallic with a white vinyl landau top. Due to the paint problems the auto manufacturers encountered in the late 1970's, it was professionally repainted (using the original color) about 10 years ago by a very reputable body shop. The car was driven very little since it was repainted. The car has been kept in a climate controlled garage since new. I am not aware of any bondo anywhere. The finish is absolutely gorgeous and reflects like a mirror. There are very few minor marks… nothing a camera can pick up. The chrome and the stainless steel are in very good shape and still shine brilliantly also, with only very minor pitting is some places. However the bottom half of the rear bumper is dull, which is a common problem on these models. The original vinyl top still holds the color well and looks great. There are no rips or tears in the vinyl top anywhere. There is NO RUST anywhere on the body or under the doors. Although not detailed, the underbody & frame is extremely solid. The car was rust-proofed when new and has done a good job at preserving this beautiful car. I have many more pictures of the car (including the frame/underbody) which I can email upon request. I am sure you will be impressed. Overall, the exterior is in excellent condition. Interior: The interior is also in good condition. The seats are like brand new. The original floor mats have done well to preserve the carpet. The car belonged to a non-smoker. It still smells new just like 1977! There are no rips or holes anywhere. The original headliner is also excellent. The door panels are still in good shape with minimal fade. The dash is in great shape except there is a minor crack on the left side where it meets the door panel (see picture). Also, the plastic trim along the rear part of the inside door opening had some cracking, which we attempted to tape using matching color (see picture). The trunk is also rust-free and very clean…like brand new. The original spare tire has never been used, neither has the jack. The trunk carpet is also original and very nice. The wheel well areas inside the trunk are rust-free. The original radio was replaced with a Panasonic AM/FM/Cassette but I don’t believe the dash was ever cut. We have another AM/FM/8-track radio out of a 70's Cutlass which will go to the next owner; however we do not know whether it works. Mechanical: As stated previously, the car runs like a top. The motor purrs like a kitten, starts instantly, and is very smooth…and has plenty of get up and go. The transmission shifts smooth and immediately goes into gear without hesitation. The following was done recently: -New belts, hoses, air filter -Front end aligned -New exhaust from catalytic converter back -Transmission fluid & filter changed and serviced (including modulator) -New oil change, filter & lube -New wiper blade refills -New radiator & anti-freeze -New water pump -Carburetor adjusted The car passed the rigorous Pennsylvania state inspection and is good through September 2012. Tires are about 90% of new and rides & handles very nice. The car does have A/C but is NOT working. It appears to hold a charge but the compressor is locked up. Other than that, I am not aware of anything needed at all. You can drive this baby anywhere! Overall: If you are looking for a good looking, solid, reliable, very clean classic Olds in nice shape, this one’s for you. It runs and drives excellent and will make a very nice classic for you. This is definitely nice enough to show….we get compliments everywhere we go. I have sold several cars on eBay and in all situations had positive feedback. I attempt to describe each vehicle as accurately and honestly as possible and I do not think you will be disappointed. As with anything, if you desire to bid on the vehicle, I would encourage you to see it physically and drive it for yourself before you bid. I have plenty more pictures which I can email if you want. 1977 Olds Cutlass Salon coupe / Excellent Condition / 65k original miles / 1 owner until 2011 / 100 pics
I am the 2nd owner of this 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass Salon coupe which was purchased new at Condrin Oldsmobile-Cadillac in Altoona, PA. We have the original owner’s manual, and a reproduction of the window sticker. This is a very, very nice original car. It has about 65,000 ORIGINAL miles. The overall condition of the car confirms the mileage. This is a very comfortable car and drives very nice. It has the original famous Olds Rocket 350 V-8 with 4 barrel and has plenty of power and also gets decent mileage at the same time. The car runs and drives beautifully…it handles nice…steering and suspension is tight...brakes don’t pull…and rides excellent. I believe this would go across country effortlessly. We drive the car several times per week.
Exterior:
The car is a gorgeous Midnight Blue metallic with a white vinyl landau top. Due to the paint problems the auto manufacturers encountered in the late 1970's, it was professionally repainted (using the original color) about 10 years ago by a very reputable body shop. The car was driven very little since it was repainted. The car has been kept in a climate controlled garage since new. I am not aware of any bondo anywhere. The finish is absolutely gorgeous and reflects like a mirror. There are very few minor marks… nothing a camera can pick up. The chrome and the stainless steel are in very good shape and still shine brilliantly also, with only very minor pitting is some places. However the bottom half of the rear bumper is dull, which is a common problem on these models. The original vinyl top still holds the color well and looks great. There are no rips or tears in the vinyl top anywhere. There is NO RUST anywhere on the body or under the doors. Although not detailed, the underbody & frame is extremely solid. The car was rust-proofed when new and has done a good job at preserving this beautiful car. I have many more pictures of the car (including the frame/underbody) which I can email upon request. I am sure you will be impressed. Overall, the exterior is in excellent condition.
Interior:
The interior is also in good condition. The seats are like brand new. The original floor mats have done well to preserve the carpet. The car belonged to a non-smoker. It still smells new just like 1977! There are no rips or holes anywhere. The original headliner is also excellent. The door panels are still in good shape with minimal fade. The dash is in great shape except there is a minor crack on the left side where it meets the door panel (see picture). Also, the plastic trim along the rear part of the inside door opening had some cracking, which we attempted to tape using matching color (see picture). The trunk is also rust-free and very clean…like brand new. The original spare tire has never been used, neither has the jack. The trunk carpet is also original and very nice. The wheel well areas inside the trunk are rust-free. The original radio was replaced with a Panasonic AM/FM/Cassette but I don’t believe the dash was ever cut. We have another AM/FM/8-track radio out of a 70's Cutlass which will go to the next owner; however we do not know whether it works.
Mechanical:
As stated previously, the car runs like a top. The motor purrs like a kitten, starts instantly, and is very smooth…and has plenty of get up and go. The transmission shifts smooth and immediately goes into gear without hesitation.
The following was done recently:
-New belts, hoses, air filter
-Front end aligned
-New exhaust from catalytic converter back
-Transmission fluid & filter changed and serviced (including modulator)
-New oil change, filter & lube
-New wiper blade refills
-New radiator & anti-freeze
-New water pump
-Carburetor adjusted
The car passed the rigorous Pennsylvania state inspection and is good through September 2012. Tires are about 90% of new and rides & handles very nice. The car does have A/C but is NOT working. It appears to hold a charge but the compressor is locked up. Other than that, I am not aware of anything needed at all. You can drive this baby anywhere!
Overall:
If you are looking for a good looking, solid, reliable, very clean classic Olds in nice shape, this one’s for you. It runs and drives excellent and will make a very nice classic for you. This is definitely nice enough to show….we get compliments everywhere we go. I have sold several cars on eBay and in all situations had positive feedback.
