Vehicle Detail
1998 SVT Cobra, convertible, 39,700 original miles, beautiful burgundy looking red (called laser red from the factory). Black leather interior, unbelievably good condition. 4.6 DOHC engine 305HP, 5 speed, posi-traction rear end, factory bra. SVT Rims. This is a beautiful example of the SVT Cobra, always garaged, always babied, never raced or beat on. When I bought this car it was completely stock, I have made a few modifications, but I have always been very careful not to hack anything and to keep all of the parts I replaced in case I wanted to put them back. The things I have done to this car.. Hurst Competition Plus Short throw shifter, Maximum Motor Sports subframe connectors (professionaly installed), Eibach Pro suspension lowering kit (front and rear coils springs, front struts, and rear shocks) lowered car about 1.5 inches. (Still have factory springs and shocks). Flow Master Catback exhaust. (Still have factory exhaust). Brand new Tremec 1999 T45 transmission and Dallas Mustang SpeedCal installed at 35,000 miles, CD, MP3, Ipod player with Bluetooth for hands free phone. I still have factory radio and the factory radio wire harness is intact. The transmission was replaced in this car at 35,000 miles with a brand new 1999 T45. The reason for this was.. When I installed the Hurst shifter, I slightly misadjusted the shifter stop for 3rd gear, this left the transmission ever so slightly not going all the way into 3rd (just one of those bonehead moves). Soon after the transmission started popping right back out of 3rd after you shifted. I was going to have it repaired but I found a store (AMP Performance out of Arizona) that was selling brand new 1999 Tremec T45s for cheaper than I could have the old one repaired. The newer style T45 is a better model, made after the purchase of the T45 by Tremec from Borg Warner. Another plus to this setup is that the newer T45 has the same mounting setup as the T56, so this car is already setup with the right transmission mounts and the Dallas SpeedCal needed for a T56 6 speed upgrade. This car could run the older or newer Ford style T56 Tremec 6 speed without any modifications. There are no dents on this car. I would give the paint a 9 out of 10 only because it has some chips here and there from pebbles and a little bit of scuffing under the bra. I keep the bra off of the car and only put it on for special occasions. The shine on the paint is incredible .There are only a few “flaws” on the car, 1 a very small hole in the leather of the driver’s side seat bonnet, the first owner may have been heavy or careless getting in and out of the car because the foam under the bonnet of the seat had collapsed and there was a tiny hole in the leather. I removed the seat cover enough to repair the foam and planned to have a leather guy fix the small hole. I guy I have used before quoted me $100 to repair the hole (a good leather guy can do this so that you can’t ever tell there was a hole). I just never got around to having it done. #2, the center console cover is a little tweeked, the design of the console cover for these cars is poor ( a quick Google search tells the story), if you do not discipline yourself not to use the factory cover as an arm rest it will start to collapse. There a several companies making carbon fiber replacements for about $50. #3 a few sligth curb rashes on the SVT rims. I had this car dyno-tuned in Modesto and have the tune showing it at 283HP at the rear wheel, very impressive for a stock engine. This further shows the low miles and good condition of this vehicle. In excellent condition this car blue books at $13,000, good condition $12,500 and fair condition $11,500. This car is in between good and excellent, only because in blue book terms I believe excellent to be perfect and this car has a few mentioned "blemishes". This car also has many upgrades that most buyers would want. Overall this Cobra is in excellent condition. I get compliments from everyone who sees it or rides in it. I have done my very best to describe this car accurately and honestly. Please feel free to ask any question and thanks for looking.
