Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my 1991 Pontiac Firebird Formula Knight rider KITT conversion. This car is amazing, it turns heads everywhere I go, and is instantly recognizable as one of televisions most famous cars. It's funny that at car shows people walk by $60,000 restored muscle cars to check out this car! First, about the car. It is a 1991 Pontiac Firebird formula that has been changed to a clone of a 1982 Trans Am. The car was torn apart, dents and dings removed, panels replaced for conversion, was primed, blocked, re-primed, and finished with SIKKENS automotine paint. All work professionally done. The interior color was changed, and new interior pieces were installed. The drive train is assumed to be original to the car, and does not appear to have been modified, which is probably why it still runs so strong. The motor is the 5.7 litre 350, and again, it runs great. However, with 160xxx miles, it does smoke sometimes upon startup, but mostly if it has sat for 2 or 3 weeks without starting. I run a 60/40 mix of Lucas oil stabilizer and oil to condition seals and this seams to cut down on the smoke. New parts since conversion, tires, steering components, upper and lower radiator hoses, radiator, water pump, thermostat, muffler, battery, hvac blower motor. door seals, hatch seal, and t-tops seals are all new. The t-tops will seap a bit when washing the car, but I was caught in the rain one time, and they didn't leak. Wipers and squirters work, and all lights function. Power mirrors work, door locks work, and power windows work, but are slow. The glass in the car is original, so there are some chips, pits, and scratches here and there, but all appears nice, and the windshield looks like it has been replaced at one time because it is in pretty nice shape. The AC works!, however it has needed a shot of r-134 freon every spring, and usually lasts through the summer. (as of this listing, it is still blowing cold.) The gauges work with the exception of the oil pressure gauge which just pegs out. The radio is factory and should be replaced. I replaced all the speakers and it still sounds bad, so it will need a head unit. The car is a third generation F-body car, so it has the normal squeaks, rattles, and wind noise that almost every one of these cars has. About the conversion. The front bumper is a season 1 replica from Knight Passions, a very good replica of the early nose from the show. The scanner is from Mark's custom kits. The fenders are trans am with the correct vents. The hood is correct. It has the small ground effects which are reproductions and the correct rear bumper and rear taillights with blackout. In the bumper are three sets of fog lamps, 2 are functional, and the outer lights have been converted to turn signals. The fog light switches, and scanner control have been worked into the ashtray lid on the console. The wheels are correct 15 inch turbocast wheels which have been refinished, and the bowling ball caps are reproductions. The tires gave great tread, probably less than 1500 miles on them. Inside are the correct PMD seats, with re-clearcoated PMD emblems, they look new. The carpet, door panels and trim are all made to match the conversion. The interior lacks the dash, pods and electronics, and the correct console and shifter. The dash bezels are painted gloss black with the same SIKKENS paint, and the dash pad is in great shape. Included are two extra finished bowling ball caps, a KNIGHT license plate, and extra heavy duty zip ties to hold on the caps. This car has been driven (rarely) since it's completion, so expect minor imperfections due to normal driving conditions. Low reserve price considering the cost involved in creating this vehicle. Please ask questions!! I will respond to them as quickly as possible, and to the best of my knowledge. Thanks for looking!!
