Vehicle Detail
I have a 1957 Pontiac Catalina 4 dr hardtop for sale. It has a non original 347 C.I. engine with a 2 bbl carb and 4 speed Jetaway automatic transmission .I have owned this car since 2002 and have spent countless hours working on it between injurys and illness's. I did rust repair in rear wheel wells and small repairs in floors. All rust was cut out and replaced with sheetmetal. A lot of POR 15 went on this car. There should be no rust on this car for many years. I will list most of the new parts that I have installed: windshield, 2 vent windows, 2 flat glass windows, fuel pump, water pump, oil pump, timing chain & gears, freeze plugs, all new engine gaskets, some new valve lifters, transmission front & rear seals, tranny torrus cover to flex plate seal, tranny mount , engine mounts, complete valve job except hardened valve seats, 5 new tires, axle bearings & seals (one side was leaking), door panel hardware kit, a differant 347 engine that was supposed to be the best one around, package tray (wrong one-needs trimming), seat covers, door panels, carpet, kick panels, carb rebuild, tune up except wires, exhaust cross over pipe, fuel pump hoses, glove box, generator belt, upper & lower hoses, thermostat, radiator cap, exhaust tips (closed), center piece of rear bumper-rechromed, interior light bezel, wiper blades. I have bought and will include with car weatherstripping for 4 doors, rubber that separates the windows on both sides and door edge protectors. The tranny works great but the gasket leaks. I just replaced it with a new one and the leak stopped for a while but then came back. The oil pan must not be straight. The tranny itself does not leak. Not one drop. The pan must be straightened out. The pinion seal leaks. I put the wrong gaskets in the exhaust when I put the car together. I now have the correct gaskets but am physically unable to install them. They go with the car. The engine has a miss and runs really rich. I had the carb rebuilt but it still runs rich. Even with the miss the car runs strong. Lots of torque. I had the engine apart except for pulling the pistons. Everything was within tolerance and looked good. Someone smarter than me can maybe figure out why it misses. Some trim that goes around the windshield and back window I left off because they will have to come off for painting. There ar 4 pieces. All lights and guages work except oil pressure guage shows 58 lbs all the time. The ribbon speedometer works , most of them don't. One license plate light works. The car needs windlace to make the interior look really nice. The headliner is good except for a thumbnail size hole and a small stain. I bought 4 seatbelts but I lost 3. I also lost 4 letters that go on the trunk that say Pontiac. I did not fill in the holes. The brakes are good. The car has manual steering and brakes but handles nicely. The milage is 49741 and is probably correct. The car belonged to a lady from Iowa who owned the car from 1969 till 1980. It was last regestered in1994. The original color was coral and white. I have over $11,500.00 in this car and I will lose big time. Someone could part this car out for more than I can sell it for. I hope this does not happen because this car could be made into something special. The hard work has been done and the big money has been spent. I require a $500.00 non refundable deposit at the end of the auction. The balance to be paid in 7 days. I prefer a wire transfer from your bank. You arrange shipping and I will assist all I can. I can hold car for a few day's if you like. This vehicle is being sold as-is, where-is, with no warranty expressed written, or implied. I have described this vehicle to the best of my knowledge and shall not be responsible for possible missed items or description discrepancies, and make no warranty in connection therewith. I encourage you to have the car inspected You can email me at: hornbuckle@gvtel.com. 7 T
