Vehicle Detail
Re-listing due to a non paying bidder Your are bidding on a 1973 Volkswagon Beetle that has been restored and is in excellent running condition. This vehicle was purchased on June 20, 1973 from Bob Dee Volkswagon in Quincy, IL. with just 4 miles on it. Since that time, this vehicle was used as a personal vehicle for my family as the kids grew up. In 2003, the Body, Paint and Interior were completely redone by Doug Jenkins Garage in St. Louis, MO. This VW is a 1 owner vehicle that comes with the original title, manuals, bill of sale, etc. All new original replacement seat covers, new headliner, new carpet, new dash cover, door panels, sun visors, new carpet kit under hood, stereo. The exterior has no major dents, door dings, or scratches. The only rust you will find is inside the door frame, on a door hinge and some on the bumpers. I have included photo's of the Rust spots inside the doors. Tires are like new as well. It is a manual transmission 4 cyl with 73,978 miles. (I will tell you the odometer stopped working in 2006 so there are more miles on this, than that. However, this is not a car that is driven more than 500 miles a year if that since 2006.) I have been doing some checking on the floor pans and the heater channels. A person asking about the heater channels was actually asking if they were rusted through. Here is what you can tell. The running boards do not wiggle, bend, or crackle at all when trying to move them. Looking on the inside, it is hard to see because of the carpet. However, when running my hand along them and squeezing on the heater channels, there is no give, which would indicate any rust holes. There seems to be no major rust problems with the heater channels as this bug has been stored inside and not driven during the winters. I was able to remove one of the running board and take some pictures of the heater channels (which run alongside the door of the bug. They seemed to be in excellent condition, with no rust directly on the heat channels. The pictures show some black “caulk” behind the running boards, but this is not a sealer. I scraped some off and it was not covering any holes. I’m assuming it was used for the running boards. I don’t think the floor pans were replaced, as previously mentioned, but looking underneath (as carpet is glued down and I can’t pull it up), they seem to be in pretty good condition. Poking around with a screwdriver, I could not push through any rust. The buyer of this will be responsible for picking up the vehicle or paying to have it shipped to you. I will accept a $500.00 deposit via paypal and the rest with a certified check or cash upon pick-up.
