WOW!! Up for grabs, at a Super Low BUY IT NOW Price, is a classic convertible Mercedes 1971 280SL! This car is for the true Mercedes enthusiast! It needs TLC and does not run but if you love a good fixer upper, you'll be showing this beauty in a car show in no time! White exterior, navy blue leather interior. (The leather is pretty nice but the stitching on one of the headrests needs re-stitching. She photo) It has been sitting for about 7 years. My mom was the owner for over 20 years. She had been ill and died in late 2010 which is why we are selling. It is time to pass it over to a new owner who has the time, love and appreciation of classic cars to get it going again. Just think...there were only 830 of this model ever made!!! In the last 40 years, many were totaled in accidents, stolen, sold for parts, etc. There are only few hundred of this models' chassis left in existence. Here is your chance to be a part of the best of the best!! This model is an automatic with a stick shift. (No clutch needed!) I remember the engine being re-built about 10 years ago. The odometer reads: 12569. Mom had said the new engine only had about 10,000 miles on it. Because of this, I am unsure if the current reading is an old reading from the original engine or if the 12,569 is moms 'approximate' 10,000 miles on the re-built engine. Either way, it's actual mileage is not high. Again, it has been sitting and does not run. It does have rust in some places. The dash board area is original (not including the radio) and I know this is important factor to collectors/restorers. It is equipt with A/C but it does not work. There is no hard top included but you can get one on Ebay for a steal & have it professionally painted at any time. I am not too sure about other issues or features. The best way to judge is to see for yourself as I am far from an expert. What you see is what you get.
