Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on one of the rarest and most beautiful bikes Honda has made. The design is a takeoff on the drag bikes of that day, and its performance is also a testament to that design - this machine is very quick. Although a 'sport bike' it is also a fine touring machine with handling that excels in the twisties. I don't want to sell it, but it's time to let it go to someone who will also appreciate it. This bike always gets comments, and stands out at events. At idle it's exhaust note is a low rumble, but under acceleration it lets out that crotch rocket howl. The engine is the 4 cylinder/4 valves per cylinder derived from the VFR tuned for street use. Only two years of production went on for this design, 1987-88, so it is a rare one. I used it for my daily commute in the 90's, and in recent years only occasionally take scenic runs. It currently has 17,676 miles on it but will probably be over 17,700 at time of sale. It's overall condition is good to very good - that is, there is one ding in the tank forward left side, normal minor paint scratches, road noise on the forks, and moisture marks on the chrome but some elbow grease will reduce those slight imperfections. The running gear, engine, and electrical systems are in excellent condition. It has nearly new rubber front and rear, with Metzeler 3.50H19 up front and Dunlop K555 150/80R in back. Note the spun aluminum rear wheel and 5 spoke mag front wheel. Just done in June - new Bikemaster TruGel battery, oil and filter, fluids in brake and clutch hydraulics, and final drive unit. It has shaft drive and uses Hypoid gear SAE #80 weight oil. Included in the sale: Windscreen new in 2008, barrel bag with seat rest, eclipse fast pack (not shown), original tool kit, Nelson-Rigg dust/rain cover, original Owners Manual, original Service Manual, trickle charger with installed battery connector. Understand however that this is a used bike, although well cared for and maintained it is not 'new', but it is not tired or beat looking. Needs the same TLC I gave it, and for optimum use I recommend a tune up although it's running fine as is, and a thorough wash/wax job so you know what you've got. Please operate responsibly - this machine is Harley sized but accelerates much faster, so get used to it gradually and I hope you enjoy this rare icon of Honda engineering. I have set the Reserve Price much lower than the Buy it Now price. Although I believe this bike is worth at least the Buy it Now price due to its rarity and quality, I am looking to sell it.
