Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1961 Ford Falcon Ranchero. Car is in great shape, certainly for a 50 year old vehicle. This Falcon has a 144 cubic inch 6 cylinder engine, with a three speed (on the column) manual transmission. Car starts/runs/shifts/drives very well. Not enough power you say? Tiny engine you say? Perhaps, but with the 3.50 geared rear end, the car does fine, even on the highway. I have used the car for my commute in Atlanta traffic, and it has done fine. Actually kind of peppy. I have installed a tach and gauges to monitor the engine...it holds pretty steady on temp (190), oil pressure (35-50), and volts (12.5-14). 55 mph is ~2500 rpm. At some point, the car was fixed up by a previous owner. The paint color was changed to a maroon/burgundy color, and the interior matches the outside. It must have been several years ago, as the clear coat has worn off/baked off. The sides of the cars still look good, as does the interior paint. This must have been a really base model Falcon, even as Falcons go. The interior light doesn't come on when the door is opened. The door jamb switch location for the interior light is capped off and painted. You can change this by putting in a switch. The interior light will come on if you rotate the headlight switch all the way, like most old Fords. Cigarette lighter? Nope, that location is capped off too, but you can install a lighter if you want one. An AM radio is installed, from a Mitsubishi car (radio face says so), a really clean installation. the seat is covered in a grey cloth, kind of plush. Comfortable to ride on/in. Paint is not perfect, but is in nice shape. You could easily drive this car for a year or two more and do nothing, just enjoy driving the car around. It is great for doing truck type stuff around town, that's what I do. I have a 1966 Mustang also, and this Ranchero gets as much attention as the Mustang does, if not more. Plenty of smiles and nods, from the first day I owned the car. Literally every time I drive it, I get some looks. Georgia doesn't require a title when selling a car this old; just a bill of sale. If this is going to be a problem, let me know in advance to prevent any delay in giving the car to you. Thanks!
