Vehicle Detail
This auction is for a 2006 Honda Civic Si finished in Habanero Red Pearl and a black interior with red stitching. It’s powered by a 197 horsepower 2.0 liter 16-valve DOHC i-VTEC® engine that has received excellent reviews by engineers and the automotive press for its high power output, great economy and inherent smoothness. It features an aluminum alloy engine block and cylinder head for light weight and excellent heat dissipation, i-VTEC (intelligent Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) for maximum power output at all engine speeds, a balance shaft for smoothness and absence of vibration allowing for a high 8,000 rpm redline, multiport fuel injection for excellent gas mileage, distributorless coil on plug (COP) ignition for reliability in all environmental conditions, and drive by wire electronic throttle for precise control of drivability parameters. The most interesting feature on this engine is the tuned air intake that tunnels out of the engine compartment, into the fender area, and back to the intake manifold. Besides creating a ram-air effect, by routing the intake through the fender, the sound of the engine getting on the cams is amplified because the fender acts as a resonator. With the windows down, and the engine above 6,000 rpm, this car sounds like a Ferrari V8 at full boil. The engine is mated to a close ratio 6-speed manual transmission with a helical-type limited slip differential and a 4.29:1 axle ratio. This transaxle setup has a low first gear that provides brisk acceleration which gets you from 0 to 60 mph in the mid 6 seconds, while the high overdrive top gear allows for effortless highway cruising and excellent fuel economy figures in the mid to upper 30 mpg’s in real world driving. The helical-type differential eliminates wheelspin when accelerating hard out of corners when the weight’s off the inside front wheel. The clutch action and shifter feel are the best in its class. The short-throw 6-speed stick is buttery smooth and lets you flick off shifts with speed and precision and the clutch is feather light for tireless hours inside the cockpit. Rounding out the Si is a suspension made to carve up twisting roads. Start off with a light curb weight under 2,800 pounds and a chassis 35 percent stiffer than the previous generation Civic. Add in a solid front anti-roll bar (it’s hollow on the EX), a bigger rear bar (0.7 inch versus 0.4) and 17 inch 45 series low profile tires and it all adds up to what Honda calls “razor-like” handling. It goes without saying that the Civic Si is one of the most fun cars to drive in it’s price range, and that it’s quicker, faster and handles better than many other pseudo-sports cars costing thousands more. Not only is the Civic Si fun to drive, it’s also economical to maintain. Most systems have low or reduced maintenance components. For example, instead of a timing belt that needs periodic replacement, the Civic Si uses a steel timing chain that lasts for the life of the engine. It uses iridium tipped spark plugs with 100,000 mile service intervals and extended life coolant with a 10 year/120,000 mile service interval. And the Civic has a Maintenance Minder system that calculates the optimum service intervals based on how the car is driven. A car driven primarily on the highway requires less maintenance than one subject to city use with constant stopping and starting. The entire Civic line has been totally redesigned for 2006 and is improved over the previous model in every respect. Also, the ’06 model looks virtually identical to the new 2011 models. Both mechanically and stylistically the Civic has earned the reputation of becoming one of the best vehicles in its class. Its new exterior style is very unique. From its sleek lines and sweeping curves incorporating elements from premium European sports cars, it looks handsome from any angle without being flashy. The Si specifically, has a monochromatic paint scheme with body color bumpers, mirrors and door handles for a solid look. But if you like high tech design, the interior is a feast for the eyes. Get in and sit down in a sport bucket seat that adjusts to the perfect driving position with settings for height adjustment and recline. Then adjust the tilt leather wrapped steering wheel to achieve complete driving control. Now glance above you at the large glass moonroof that lets in light in all weather conditions and opens up on nice sunny days. Next, look ahead at the dashboard with the hot red glow of the two level electroluminescent style gauge pod and center stack and how easy they are to read. Look right and left at the brushed aluminum trim and titanium accents on the doors, dash and shifter and to the perforated sport cloth seats with Alcantara® (aka ultra-suede) accents and red stitching that a Ferrari owner would be most familiar with. Finally, glance down at your feet where pedals of stainless steel with rubber buttons are ready for your commands. Not only is the styling all sport, but all the textures have a rich feel and look and all the switchgear have a precise soft touch action. From the perforations of the leather wrapped steering wheel, the graining pattern on the dash and door panels, or the layout of the knobs and switches on the dash, everything looks and feels like it came from a more expensive car. Now place the key in the ignition and turn the engine on. You hear a light but unobtrusive growl and are surprised how smooth it idles. Next, take it for a spin. Whether on congested city streets, open highways, or twisting mountain roads, you will be amazed how smooth, quick and powerful this Civic Si drives. With a satisfying snarl whenever you step on the accelerator, the smooth revving engine quickly accelerates to 6,000 rpm, at which point, the cams switch over to a more aggressive profile and the car takes off like an F15 that just turned on it’s afterburners. And emits a sound like a Ferrari makes accelerating out of a turn at Monaco. This Civic Si is fully equipped with all the desirable safety, comfort and convenience features and equipment including: 197 horsepower 2.0 liter i-VTEC® engine 6-speed close ratio manual transmission Helical-type limited slip differential with 4.29:1 axle ratio Air conditioning with electronic climate control and cabin air filter Power glass moonroof with slide and vent positions and sunshade and one-touch open and close Power windows with drivers express up and down Power door locks Cruise control 350 watt AM/FM/XM satellite ready CD MP3 stereo with digital clock, integrated antenna, seven speakers and rear deck subwoofer Remote keyless entry Multi-adjustable front sport bucket seats with embroidered red “Si” logos Sport cloth interior with Alcantara® accents and red stitching Seatback storage pocket Tilt steering wheel Steering wheel mounted cruise control switches and secondary stereo buttons Leather wrapped steering wheel Leather wrapped shift knob and leather shift boot with red stitching Split-level red electroluminescent style instrument cluster with digital speedometer and multi-function displays for outside temperature, oil life, maintenance minder, two trip odometers, etc. Center console with cup holders, sliding adjustable armrest, storage compartments and two 12V power outlets Auxiliary input jack for iPods® and external devices Tinted glass Clear lens headlights with jewel effect reflectors Fog lights Intermittent wipers Front and rear dome lights with theater dimming Dual power body color outside rear view mirrors Dual visor vanity mirrors Remote locking trunk lid and fuel door release Engine immobilizer theft deterrent system 17 inch aluminum wheels Matching set of four 215/45R17 Fuzion HRi tires 60/40 split fold-down and locking rear seats with pass-through to trunk for skis or long items Factory floor mats Trunk light Battery rundown protection Retained accessory power (RAP) Rear window defroster Rear spoiler with integrated center high mounted stop light (CHMSL) Polished stainless steel exhaust tip Dual front airbags with advanced dual-stage and dual-threshold technology and passenger sensing system Front seat side airbags Front head curtain air bags Rear head curtain airbags Front seatbelt pre-tensioners Child seat anchors (LATCH) system Emergency trunk release 4 wheel disc anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) Electrically assisted power steering And many more items too numerous to mention. It has a beautiful dent-free body with just the normal minor nicks, dings and hairline scratches you would expect on a five year old car, and certainly much less than you would expect on a car with this mileage. Being that it was mostly highway miles helps a lot too. When we got the car both the front and rear bumpers had some small cuts and scuffs and instead of trying to repair them and possibly have the repair start to peel or crack six months or a year later, I had brand new bumpers painted and installed instead. So what that means is that the exterior part of a car that gets the most scuffs and blemishes, (the bumpers), on this 180,000+ mile car, looks like new. The paint itself on the rest of the car is also beautiful and shiny and this shade of pearl red just about glows in the sunlight. It has been cleaned with Meguiar’s Smooth Surface Clay System, polished with Meguiar’s Mirror Glaze cleaner polish and topped off with Meguiar’s Synthetic Sealant for a high gloss shine. Even both the front and also the back sides of the wheels have been cleaned! How obsessed is that? Ditto for the polished stainless steel exhaust tip. The interior is in great condition as well. It has excellent upholstery, carpet, dashboard and door panels with no cracks, rips or tears or any significant signs of wear. Since any car of this mileage will have some wear spots on the parts you normally handle and touch, I made sure those items got replaced. The most touched part in any car is probably the shifter, and the leather was worn a little, so I put a brand new shift knob on it. While the knob was off, I saw that the boot was just plain vinyl, so I replaced it with a custom genuine Italian leather boot with red stitching that matches the red stitching in the rest of the upholstery and really sets off the interior. While I was at it, the painted bezel around the shifter and the painted handbrake grip were a little worn so I replaced them too. Also replaced was the driver’s door armrest. In other words, no reasonable expense was spared to make this car look as new as possible inside. The car doesn‘t have any smokers smell. In fact, it’s not even equipped with a lighter. The trunk looks like it was hardly ever used and the engine compartment has been fully detailed and is clean enough to eat off of. Overall, inside and out, this car looks as nice or even nicer than most cars with one third it’s mileage! Mechanically it runs and drives excellent. The engine runs strong and feels smooth both at idle, while accelerating and throughout the cruising range. The engine starts instantly whether hot or cold. The steering wheel is on dead center going down the road with no shakes or vibrations at speed, the brakes are firm with no pedal pulsations or pulling to one side when stopping and the suspension is tight. The A/C blows cold. It has a recent set of four identical Fuzion HRi tires with a long 400 treadwear rating and a 40,000 mile limited warranty. They have been balanced with stick-on balance weights mounted on the inside of the wheel for a super clean look. The only issue with these tires is that they are quite loud. They make more noise under 30 mph, above that, normal road noise cancels that out. The spare tire and jack doesn’t look like they have ever been used. The car has been maintained with Mobil 1 synthetic oil exclusively. The car has been fully checked out and serviced with over $2,500 worth of new or recent parts, maintenance and repairs with original Honda or other name brand parts so that only your enjoyment rather than your immediate attention will be required on delivery. Some of the items checked or serviced include: New Mobil 1 oil change New Honda large capacity oil filter New Honda air filter New NPN cabin air filter New Honda fuel filter New throttle body cleaning New MAF sensor cleaning New Denso Iridium spark plugs Recent NAPA 65 month battery New Honda belt tensioner pulley New Honda Long Life Type 2 (blue) coolant flush and change Recent front brake pads Recent front brake rotors Recent rear brake pads Recent rear brake rotors New parking brake adjustment New Valvoline Synthetic Dot 4 brake fluid flush and change New Redline MTL transmission fluid change Recent set of four Fuzion HRi tires New Honda shift knob New Redlinegoods.com leather shift boot New Honda shift boot bezel New Honda hand brake grip New Honda drivers door armrest Photos of some of the parts checked or serviced: Oil change: Oil filter: Air filter: Cabin air filter: Fuel filter: Throttle body cleaning: MAF sensor cleaning: Spark plugs with the proper amount of anti-seize on the threads: Battery: Belt tensioner pulley: Coolant flushed until water is clear: Front brake pads: Front brake rotors, 25 mm is new: Rear brake pads: Rear brake rotors, 9 mm is new: Brake and clutch fluid flush and change: Transmission fluid change, old fluid coming out is as clean as the new fluid: Other than routine oil and filter changes, with all the above mentioned servicing the car has recently received, you should be good to go for another 100,000 miles before requiring major maintenance. Overall this is a super sharp car that looks fantastic in this exclusive, Habanero Red color. Only the Si had this color available and only for the 2006 to ’08 model years. This Civic Si is a later production 2006 model and a one owner southern car. Mid 40’s adult owner I might ad. CLICK HERE to see the title. It wasn’t delivered until late May 2006 so it’s not even 5 years old yet which probably explains why it’s so clean. It has a clean CarFax. CLICK HERE to see the CarFax. This Si is bone stock except for the shift boot, unlike many of these Si’s that are extensively modified with sometimes questionable mods, both in terms of quality and taste. Whether you like your car all original like this one is, or like to modify it correctly, this car is the blank canvas you can start with knowing you won’t have to correct another persons mistakes or poor taste. The car comes with all the books: Two factory remote keys: A set of factory floor mats: A factory Honda accessory sunroof wind deflector if you want it: A front license plate bracket if you need it: And for any West Virginia residents, the car has an October 2011 state inspection: 2006 is the first year of the new and current bodystyle for the Civic and if you’ve been looking for a current edition Civic Si, the 2006 model is the best value to buy since it’s still nearly identical to the new 2011’s, but being five model years old, the majority of the depreciation has been absorbed by the previous owner, yet the car still looks and runs great and still has most of its service life left. Since the ’06 Civic was the first year of the new bodystyle, it’s the oldest, and thus, the least expensive model you can buy. What that means is you can own a car with the looks, style and prestige of a new 2011 Civic Si for a fraction of the cost. In fact, because of the higher mileage, this Civic Si may be the cheapest one you will find until a few years of depreciation have reduced the prices of lower mileage ones to the level of this one. It could be a year or two before that happens, so if you’ve always wanted a current bodystyle Civic Si but thought you just didn’t quite have enough funds to purchase one, this car may just have your name on it. In other words, it’s going to take another year or two before the 50,000 to 60,000 mile ’06 Civic Si’s that you are looking at now for $13,000 to $15,000 depreciate down to the price of this Civic. So why wait that long? In a year or two their prices will be the same as this one is right now anyway, so you might as well own and enjoy it now! The cost new of this loaded Civic Si was nearly $21,000! CLICK HERE to see the original pricing, But because it was a hot new model, most dealers were adding additional market adjustment markups (read rip off), so with tax, title and tags, you were lucky if you got ANY change back from your $25,000 bill! The NADA Blue Book retail price on the car even with the higher mileage is over $12,000 and that doesn’t even include the $2,400 in recent parts and maintenance the car has had. CLICK HERE to see the Blue Book pricing. I have the Buy It Now price at over $3,000 below that amount! If you are serious about buying a current edition Civic Si, this is about as low as they go. This car has been one of my personal drivers for the last six months and is time to let someone else enjoy it. I bought it at a dealer auction the week before Christmas when prices are traditionally the lowest, and I’m passing on the savings in this Ebay auction. If instead of selling it back at a dealer auction I can sell it here on Ebay for a similar price and avoid dealer auction fees and transportation expenses, and the new owner gets the car at a true wholesale price, then both buyer and seller make out ahead. Remember, you can get a great deal on Ebay with prices sometimes way below retail, but no bidder is going to “steal” a vehicle and no seller is going to give one away either. When comparing this car to the others listed, keep in mind that this car is a one owner southern vehicle, comes with a clean Carfax, runs excellent, is fully serviced and is super clean inside and out. Also when comparing prices, remember the things that you won’t have to spend money on. With this car you won’t have to spend over $400 for a new set of tires, you won’t have to spend $300 on a complete front brake service, you won’t have to spend $300 on a complete rear brake service, you won’t have to spend $300 on a coolant and brake flush, you won’t have to spend $300 on a tune-up and filters service and you won’t have to spend $300 on any upcoming scheduled maintenance. If you are looking for a nice Civic Si in excellent condition at a low price, then this car is hard to beat. Also remember that we don’t charge dealer processing fees or document fees that many other listings have for $200 or more and bury in their fine print. And don’t be fooled by some other auctions that are advertised as NO RESERVE and start at $100 or some other low price. Since no dealer is going to risk loosing thousands of dollars if their auction doesn’t bring enough money, you can be pretty sure he has some “people” bidding on it for him. Especially those auctions that are private listings where it says “User ID kept private.” TERMS OF THE AUCTION ARE AS FOLLOWS: Since this car may be advertised locally, auction can be canceled at any time (unless auction ended early with BUY IT NOW) due to prior sale without liability to any bidder. A down payment of $500 (plus any additional delivery charge) is required within 3 days of the close of the auction, balance due in cash on delivery or certified funds on delivery if I deliver it or you pick it up, or before it’s dropped off at the transporter if a shipping company is transporting it, but no later than 7 days after the close of the auction without prior agreement. I accept bank or certified checks, money orders, credit cards through PayPal (accepted for down payment only). If paying balance with funds other than cash, buyer to fax copy of monetary instrument no less than 24 hours before picking up vehicle. The car is sold as is. Buyer is welcome to inspect car BEFORE the end of the auction or to have someone check it out on your behalf provided you authorize whoever is checking the car to provide me with a copy of the results. I have tried to accurately describe this car, both mechanically and cosmetically but you can expect a certain amount of minor flaws on ANY used car including squeaks, rattles, drips, nicks, chips, scratches, blemishes and any other marks that are consistent with the age and mileage of the vehicle. There is no possible way to include all minute details and imperfections, however, I believe my listing accurately depicts this vehicle and if there are any issues they are noted in the description. Also remember that a vehicle is made up of thousands of mechanical parts and components and in an older or higher mileage used vehicle a part that is working fine now may go bad the next day, in a week, or a month from now. It’s nearly impossible to tell when a particular part or component will fail as most don’t exhibit prior symptoms, however, proper preventative maintenance as this car has received, can prevent most problems or breakdowns from happening. In fairness to all bidders the reserve price will not be disclosed so please don’t even ask. Buyer responsible for transportation and car must be paid for in full before it can be released. May deliver. Email or call for delivery quote or for any other questions. atikovi@email.com Maryland and District of Columbia dealer. Phone 202-246-5201. Please do not bid if you don’t intend to buy. FREE DELIVERY TERMS: Free delivery within 300 miles of the Washington DC area if bidder purchases vehicle with Buy It Now. (35 cents per mile for additional miles as shown in MapQuest.com from zip code 20001 to your address.) That is still the same rate as when I started on Ebay over 10 years ago even with more than double the gas prices. Remember, the Buy It Now option disappears once the reserve price is met. The Buy It Now price is $8,495. AUCTION ENDS: 10:00pm sharp, EASTERN TIME Friday July 8th unless Buy It Now is used.
