Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1997 BMW 840ci. I'm listing this car for a friend and if there are any questions, I will do my best to get them answered as quickly as possible. The car has 158,368miles as of the posting, but mileage may go up as the car is driven a little bit to keep the fluids moving. It's had a recent service, with all the fluids changed, rotors turned & pads replaced, stabilizer bushings replaced as well as the transmission mount. The valve cover gaskets were replaced and the A/C was charged. At some point during the car's life, the catalytic converters were replaced with non-BMW parts and now the "Check Engine" light comes on with a "Bank 1 & Bank 2 Efficiency Error". I was told that replaceing the cats will fix that and probably free up a few more horsepower. The car runs, drives and shifts well and the brake pedal is firm. It has 20" aftermarket wheels that have a staggered fit & have been powdercoated black. The 255/35/20 rear tires and 245/35/20 front tires are in very good condition with plenty of miles left on them. The interior is a mix of good & not so good. The seats need to be recovered or replaced, as the leather is worn and ripped. The Texas sun and heat has gotten the better of the leather. The levers that flip the front seats forward don't work, so it's difficult for anyone other than a cunning monkey to get into the back seat. Some of the switches are showing signs of wear and aren't as positive as they used to be. The information center above the radio is not working. The A/C fan control only seems to blow on high setting, but it does blow cold. The good part is the car has a new stereo with iPod controller and Bluetooth for your phone. The headliner is also new and clean. The factory body color is white and the factory paint was chalky, so the whole car has a "vinyl" wrap, by Skinz Wraps (Dallas, TX) in a faux-metal finish. In the sun, this car looks and feels like stainless steel. The front and rear marker/turn/brake lights have all been smoked too. The car looks really bitchin' with the wrap & black wheels. It appears that there is a little bit of rust in one area on the leading edge of the sunroof, but there doesn't appear to be any other dents of any significance on the car. The front windshield and back glass both have cracks in them. Finding a replacement front windshield is easy, but the rear takes a little more searching, but they are available. If you're a tinkerer or someone with some reasonable mechanical skills, you could have this car whipped into top shape in a week and be driving an awesome piece of machinery for a fraction of the cost! The car is located in Dallas, TX and as I mentioned, I'm listing this car for a friend and will try my best to answer any questions. The winning bidder will be required to pay a $500 deposit within 24hrs of auction close and the balance before the car is picked up or shipped. Shipping will be buyer's responsibility and should you wish to drive the car home, it is not too far from DFW airport.
