Vehicle Detail

This is probably one of the most unique cars we have had in our showroom this year. It is a very famous period custom that fell into our hands from a distressed seller. It is also a magazine feature car and appears on the cover of this months' Deluxe hotrod Magazine. The car is known as 'bread and butter'. It was built in 1953 for the Santa Anna drag races. It campaigned from 1954 until the early 1960's earning a reputation as a great car on the west coast. It also ran at El Mirage which is another famous drag strip from the era. The car would stay on the west coast until this past February when it was shipped to me out east. After its race career, it was then put away for nearly 40 years before being found by famous current-era hot rodder Bob Hill. Bob restored the car and brought it back to the original glory. We purchased it from Bob and still have the original title in Bob's name. The car is on a correct '32 Ford Chassis and carries a '29 steel roadster body. It was painted by Jimmy C (famed custom painter on the west coast). It has a Buick nailhead V-8 equipped with a four bbl carburetor and Lakes headers. The rear end is an 8" Ford. The front suspension is from a '40 Ford and the rear is an 8 inch Ford. It has a turbo 400 transmission. It is a ball to drive and fast as hell. This Ford is the cover car for the June 2011 issue of Car Culture Deluxe Magazine (pics attached and copy of the magazine comes with the car) with a full feature pictorial and write up inside. The body is all steel and in excellent restored shape. The paint is nice and the painted number looks great. The windshield glass is perfect. The interior is very tidy and has a great period look to it. All of the gauges and controls work well. The seats are incredibly snug and give a secure feeling to the driver even when thrashing around the track. The engine not only runs perfectly and sounds great, but it looks fantastic. It has strong compression, does not burn any fluids and is lightening fast. It is the real deal built in the period, campaigned heavily over 50 years ago and preserved. I plan to bring this to Scottsdale in January if not sold prior. If you are tired of looking at fiberglass cars with chevy crate 350's with crazy asking prices then maybe this is the hot rod for you. It is the real deal, steel, a period build, great racing history and very unusual & attractive. Most importantly, it is priced extremely reasonably. I think at a big Scottsdale auction this car could bring twice my asking price. As always I can be reached at 860-883-3998 with any questions. I am happy to send out all pics at high resolution. None of the pictures for any of our cars are ever retouched. you can also contact me by clicking on the contact seller link. Inspections and test drives are welcomed and invited. The car is at our brand new showroom in Westport, CT. We are open 7 days a week 10-6. See this and over 30 other great collector cars. Dragoneclassic.comOn Jun-23-11 at 04:40:15 PDT, seller added the following information: Several have asked about the body and if it is steel or glass. This is an ORIGINAL '29 Ford all steel body. Many thanks for the questions. John
