Vehicle Detail
1983 Mercury Capri RS Build Date: Sept 1982 Mileage: Estimated to be 145,000 ( odometer / speedometer replaced with 140 MPH unit, exact miles unknown and may vary at time of sale ) All descriptions are given to the best of my knowledge and are given with the intent of full and true disclosure. Purchased the car in 2005 from owner in Henderson, NV. Believed to be built in San Jose, CA this car has been in the Midwest until 2008. The car has absolutely zero rust anywhere as far as I can tell. Since I have owned it, the car has been garage stored and maintained very impeccably. CLICK HERE FOR RECENT VIDEO OF CAR: www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNHx_aTboQU Interior Car was originally had regatta blue interior and was in poor shape when I purchased the car. Interior was changed to raven black color in 2006 by M&A Interiors in Orange County, CA. · Installed new carpet, headliner, custom rear seat delete with storage compartment, new seatbelts · Recaro seats were kept and reupholstered with netted headrests which are getting hard to find · All interior panels were removed and hand dyed using Parasol Varabond. · Alpine Radio / CD / iPod hook up, Kenwood 3”, 6x9”, 10” Alpine Sub, 400 W Amp with two remote bass controls via hidden access for driver. Can be mounted at any location with ease though. Sounds great! · Heat works fine, never tried AC but I’m pretty sure it does not work. Defrost works / rear defrost works · Power Locks work and hand crank windows. A Pillar gauges ( oil pressure / water temp ) included but not installed / Spare set of FoMoCo keys & orig documentation on the car including window sticker and option list. Exterior · Very rare and hard to find Ford Motorsport piece installed and mounted · Fog Lamps ( that were not standard on this car from factory ) installed with white Marchal covers, not wired in. · Believed to be original paint, no rust inside or out, or in engine bay. · Paint a 8/10. Overall keeps a very good shine, but from previous owner had several minor scratches and areas where there were chips have been paint matched. All of this was done by previous owner. See documentation with pictures. Dent in passenger side rocker from 20 years ago, no paint damage, never needing repair. Car fits in nicely at local drive / cruise in shows with little effort required to keep it clean for driving or shows. · Hatch, hood, doors in excellent shape. Paint / rock chips are in typical areas on hood, panels, and inside the fender well. See documentation photos · Factory Sunroof; spare sunroof comes with purchase of car. · Wipers work, but won’t shut off when fuse is put in. I never drive it in rain so I never had a need to get it fixed. · On passenger side, front clip ( plastic ) does show some fading due to normal age. Drivetrain Engine · Stock 302 / Stock Heads / Stock Cam · Intake replaced with Weiand Dual Plane Intake / Holley 600 Vac Sec Carb · Water pump replaced, rear main seal · New Ford Motorsport Valve Covers, Coil Cover, FMS Wires, FoMoCo plugs · Does not burn oil or have major leaks. It’s a Ford though, it will leak very little oil if stored over a long period of time. Motor runs good and has very good compression. Exhaust · Brand new BBK ceramic coated / satin 1 5/8” shorty headers installed Feb 2011 · Off Road H Pipe BBK, new installed Feb 2011 · Comes with optional stock H Pipe with cats · Flowmaster Mufflers / Stainless Steel Tips Transmission · T-5 transmission / Steeda Firewall Adjuster / FMS Cable · Centerforce Clutch / Pressure Plate / FMS Flywheel: very soft and smooth pedal Rear End / Gear · Stock 7.5 Rear End / 3.08 ring gear. Works fine with no noises or concerns. Car has never seen hard launches or track time but has enjoyed the occasional blast down open roads. · 8.8 Rear end from ’92 5.0 Mustang , not installed, comes with purchase. 3.08 ring gear and diff rebuild kit with carbon clutches Brakes / Suspension · Front: ’87 Up Spindle / Slotted Rotors / New Brake Pads · Rear: 100% Stock · Eibach Springs, dropped 1 ½ “ · Koni Shocks · Maxim Motorsports Caster / Camber Plates Wheels and Tires · TRX wheels and tires removed and kept, will be sold with the car, fair tread with age. · Replaced with 16” 5 Stars, polished in Orange Co, CA 2006. Centercaps are chrome. · Tires are 225/45/16 (X Series ), less than 1,000 miles on them since installed. Can still see the color wear marks on them. I drive this car on occasion to shows, events and also as a fun car on nice days. Hardly ever been driven in rain, never driven in harsh weather. This is a great car to be a daily driver or as a recreational driver. The motor has never had any major issues and has never been on the track or run hard. Has always had great oil pressure, runs cool, and drives smoothly. The driver can effortlessly drive this car with one finger. Tracks straight, no drive line issues at all. The car is very quick and has a reasonable tone with the exhaust. It needs absolutely nothing in my opinion unless you want to hook up driving / fog lights. Have spent the past 5 years making modifications in the right places while maintaining a mostly stock appearance. Owner has clear title and assumed that new buyer will make all delivery or pick up arrangements. Inoperable: Horn does not work, wiper fluid does not work, wipers do work but don’t stop, and the dome light does not work. Assumed owner will have responsibility to check for residential state emissions requirements. Last inspection in NC was 2010 and is currently licensed and tagged through 2011. Car is for sale locally. OEM Parts Removed: 4 sp SROD replaced with T-5 with Hurst shifter, Single Exhaust replaced with dual exhaust, 1983/1984 Ford Motorsport Front chin spoiler installed, back seat removed. Dual Snorkel air cleaner replaced with K&N; steering wheel replaced with 3 spoke leather wheel. Bidder Question: Describe in more detail the condition of the wipers. Answer: Currently I have the fuse out that controls the wipers. If I insert the fuse in, without even turning on the wiper switch the wipers will activate and continually operate. It wasn't the ground or wiper motor. I think it is the switch / signal on the column. I have not replaced it since I never drive it in the rain. May be a simple fix, but those around Fox Chassis Mustangs / Capris may know more on how to fix it. Hope this answers the question. Uploaded pics of interior and motor bay. The rocker dent by orig owner can be seen on the passenger side profile pic.
