Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1971 AMC Javelin SST. I have owned this car for 12 years, but am selling it because I don’t have much time to enjoy it anymore and of course I could use the $$. The car is an SST, but has front and rear AMX spoilers. The car used to have a fiberglass AMX hood, with a custom hood scoop (about 6in total), and was listed here previously with that hood. The hood was damaged 2 years ago, when I accidently drove it without the hood pins (woops!). I still have the damaged hood, which could be repaired by someone with fiberglass knowledge if desired (pictures of the car with that hood and the hood damage can be provided upon request). The act of the hood leaving the car put a decent chip in the left rear upper panel (next to the trunk), which is pictured here. Luckily, it didn’t do anything else. The original steel hood (which had been in storage for some time) is now on the car (pictured this way). It has a few chips on the edges, which are pictured here. The paint is in good condition with only a few minor scratches and chips here and there (there is also some paint missing from underneath the master cylinder due to brake fluid). The chrome has not been redone (at least under my ownership), but is in very good condition (one minor ding in rear bumper). The vinyl top has been redone (app. 7 years ago) and is in very good condition. The interior is original, except for new carpet and new seat upholstery (in the original vinyl). The seats are perfect, and the rest of the interior is in good condition (just a few minor cracks). I’ve also installed power door locks and an alarm on this car. This car originally had a 304 and BorgWarner, but now has a 401 and TH-400. The 401 was professionally rebuilt app. 7 years ago, balanced and blueprinted, and has less than 2000 miles on it since the rebuild. This engine was built WITHOUT fuel economy in mind, and should be making around 500HP. Overall this car is in “driver” condition, but has done very well at several car shows. There are tons of Mustangs and Camaros out there, but not very many Javelins. Here’s your chance to own a real American Muscle Car. There are additional photos of the car at http://www.flickr.com/photos/loydbrahn/sets/72157625104773908/ And a video of the car running (with the old hood that is no longer has) at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDC_tYd0W64 If you have any questions, ask them through this listing, or call 541-331-0061. Thanks, and good luck.
