For sale: 1971 Volkswagon Westfalia Camper Van. Perfect for summer trips and adventures! I have loved having this vehicle for the past few years. I bought it from a good friend who traveled throughout the united states. Since owning it I have redone much of the interior and kept up with the mechanical maintainance. It has all new shocks, the new factory motor has 2500 miles on it (I have a reciept), new tires, the paint was done about 6 years ago (body needs some rust repair). Over all the body is in excellent shape. There is some severe rust localized to the rear drivers side fender, aproximately 5 inches in diameter. The frame and floor pans are all completely in tact, with no rust damage. It has been sitting for about a year so while it does start and run, it does not idle. It ran well when parked last. The brakes should be inspected soon. I just replaced the plugs/wires/cap/rotor. Possibly a vacuum leak, or distributor timing issue? The distributor is a Bosch 009. The interior is in very good shape as can be seen by the pictures. It has all new wood panels, new floor, new apolstery, new curtains. Original mosquito nets over back hatch, and windows are still intact, and included. Much of the hardware for the sink is included, however it is not in working condition. All it needs is the pump. This is a vehicle that I have put a lot of time and energy in and am sad to be parting with it, however I am moving in 2 weeks and cannot take it with me. This is a beautiful vehicle with great potential, and will make someone very happy! It will need a small amount of mechanical work to be road worthy. It will idle while the (electric) choke is on, but once it disengages it stops running. I tried to take it down the street to the park , but 10 minutes into the trip it stopped running – I had to tow it home. As you can see, when it does run, it does so quite well. No smoke, etc… Unfortunately the only VW mechanic that does these old engines in the area has a 2 week wait, and I am moving about the same time, so I am forced to sell it as it is.http://youtu.be/j0Py-ixpDGM
