Vehicle Detail
1968 PORSCHE 912/911 RSR CONVERSION V.I.N. #12803461 A very special 912/911 RSR with a full engine rebuild on a 3.0 liter motor with 46mm IDA Weber carburetors. This engine has less than 800 miles operating time. The engine was professionally built by Bill Smith, formerly of Andial/Porsche Motorsports. Engine is equipped with 46mm IDA Weber carburetors with modified Bosch distributor, turbo cam housing and valve covers. A new clutch was also installed at that time with a fresh 915 gearbox. The alternator/generator also was rebuilt with heavy duty bushings. The engine would be worth $10,000 alone. This Porsche began life as a '68 912 and was converted to full 1974 Porsche RSR bodywork about 15 years ago. It was then updated in 2007 with a totally fresh 3.0 liter engine. and new clutch. It is titled as a 1968 Porsche with a California salvage title. It was sold by the insurance company as a salvage vehicle but had no damage physical damage. I purchased the car in 1995. This Porsche IS NOT A SHOW CAR, It is a great driver........with lots of patina. It looks beautiful from a distance but when one gets within 5-6 feet you can see a few paint flaws. The interior is nice and shows well for a 43 year old car. It has 11" & 14" wheels with the full RSR wheel brake cooling vents and front mounted oil cooler. Original, very rare BF Goodrich T/A tires. It also has the desirable electric sunroof. Please note small body damage (photo) on front spoiler from driveway damage which is easily repairable There are also a few small things that need attention such as the radio antenna, tachometer, and a few switches, clutch adjustment?, and other minor repairs, but nothing major. This RSR clone was built for Bill Freeman of the Paul Newman/Bill Freeman Racing Team. It also has the Sport Bilstein front and rear struts, a huge front external oil cooler, and a custom built (1 into 2 out) sport mufflers. The ride is firm but not brutal. The car responds like a go-cart with superb balance. All original gauges. All engine specifications included with sale. This car would also make a great conversion for a street/track car if desired. The car runs beautifully and can be driven home or across the nation with no problem. It is a great driver and gets looks everywhere it goes. Draws crowds at events! COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED FOR $35,000. Currently registered and insured with clear California title and registration. SMOG EXEMPT!
