(after taxes) and was a special-edition that is substantially longer than any other Jaguar and is the only model to use top-of-the-line "autolux" leather as well as adds chrome trim everywhere (both inside and out), deep plush soft real-lambswool rugs, real mahogany wood with gold trim embedded into the wood on every concievable surface (cieling, front & back center consoles, shiftknob, back of the seats, entire dashboard, steering wheel, doors, etc...), duplicate-controls for the passenger seat (on the back, for driver ease), second cigar-lighter/power-plug for the rear seat and much more... 2-TONE SUEDE CEILING MATCHED TO "QUARTZ" EXTERIOR COLOR!REAL WOOD & CHROME EVERYWHERE!SPECIAL-EDITION JAGUAR TOP-OF-THE-LINE ULTRALUX LEATHER!Special presidential-limousine black-out windows (total privacy from outside with a nearly-transparent outward-view from inside) Real mahogany & chrome fold-out trays! Note the genuine 24-karat gold pinstripe inlay on the back of the tray tables! This is the classiest car ever made! Jaguar-original Alpine stereo with speakers everywhere. The Vanden Plas (aka. VDP) was Jaguar's top-of-the-line luxury vehicle designed to compete with Rolls Rolce and Bentley. NO OTHER JAGUAR MODEL LOOKS AS AMAZING AS THE VDP! This is the classiest most-understated luxury vehicle ever produced! Reverse backup sensors makes parking easy & fun! (senses both rearward and rear outboard corners) Ceiling is the classiest 2-tone light-gray suede with white fabric trim and real chrome hardware. This is the last "real" Jaguar from England (in 2004 they became American-made Fords in Jag-drag.) Unlike most cars that brag/scream out their features, Jag's appear simple in their controls but are loaded with "hidden" features activated James Bond .007-style by holding buttons down for a few seconds, clicking controls 3-times rapidly, etc. Some less-than-obvious features (they can all be turned on or off to your preference) include: automatic rain-sensing wipers, auto-down mirrors when driving in reverse, a full electronic trip computer (average speed, mileage-to-empty fuel gauge, instant MPG, etc.) under the speedometer is activated by an unmarked button on the turn-signal stalk, the seat and steering wheel move out of your way when you take the key out (and return to position when inserting the key), all 4-windows and/or sunroof can be opened/closed by turning the key in the driver's door a second-notch left or right, A/C and heat have all sorts of configurations (including thermostat-control over the seat heaters front and back!), the stereo has an automatic-adjusting speed-sensitive volume control, RDS (shows name/artist of songs on the radio) and will station-lock so when you travel beyond a station's range it will attempt to find the same station existing on another channel for seamless radio (no kidding!) Special presidential-limousine black-out windows offer total privacy from outside with a nearly-transparent view from inside the vehicle (you don't even notice it besides the lack of sun-glare.) ALL THREE MIRRORS are electrochromatic (they dim automatically, you can turn this off if you prefer manual control) and BOTH outside mirrors are heated too! Note the exceptionally-spacious rear-legroom! The driver's seat in this picture is in my normal driving position and I am 6-feet tall! All seats are heated, front and back seats! Both front seats have pneumatic-air-bag lumbar controls and power everything, even the headrests move via electric! Seat memory includes head rests, mirrors, steering wheel up/down and in/out position. A 2-TON 203-INCH-LONG LIMOUSINE that does a SIX-AND-A-HALF SECOND 0-TO-60 and is electronically-limited to 155mph! Check out that ginormous V8 4.0 beast of an engine! The air-intake manifold is the same configuration as many Maserati and Ferrari engines! Concerned about gas? Don't be! This Jag does 22 MPG!!! (in the efficiency-vicinity of a 2011 BMW ActiveHybrid 7-series and 2011 Mercedes S400 BlueHybrid) and has a cavernous 22-gallon fuel tank good for 400+ miles of driving between fill-ups! Both front and side airbags - plus at 17-feet long, almost no other vehicle will position the occupants so far away from any potential point of impact as this Jag. This Jaguar has as much moving-mass as a fullsize SUV and is thus as safe as one. A friend of mine with an XJ8 (the smaller lower-end version of this car) had a head-on collision with a GMC Suburban (a huge fullsize SUV) - both drivers were totally unharmed; the Suburban had been totaled and was taken away on a flatbed but the Jag was still perfectly drivable! (could have even driven it home if not for the deployed-airbag being in the way of turning the steering wheel) Unique 2-tone light-gray suede ceiling perfectly matches the "quartz" exterior color More rear-legroom than a BMW 750 or Mercedes S550! Front-passenger seat can be adjusted by the driver via the extra-controls (with chrome surround) on the back of the seat (only the VDP has this!) Shiny chrome Jaguar sill-plates and ULTRA-PLUSH THICK REAL-LAMBSWOOL RUGS invite both front and rear passengers into the vehicle. There are leather storage pockets on the back of the seats and on the front edge of the front-seats, there are leather-lined cubby areas on each door (front and back!) The VDP is the ONLY JAGUAR (and probably the only car altogether) with real mahogany wood seatback trays, below the trays on the seatbacks, on the ceiling around the sunroof/lighting buttons, the door panels, the door armrests, the door ashtrays, the shiftknob, the front center console, the rear center console, the rear vent-surround, the entire dashboard (driver gauges, center-area and passenger airbag), the steering wheel, etc.... Lots of lights all over this car, they will light up at 75% brightness when you unlock the doors, then fade to full brightness when you open the doors and then slowly fade out as you start the vehicle. Four electronic garage door openers. This car is sooooo much fun to drive! The 5-speed automatic transmission is so smooth that you NEVER feel gear changes at all. You give it more gas it just goes, no perceivable kickdown at all, it just starts moving really fast :) and with the windows closed it is nearly-silent at any speed. Nighttime is much fun when everything lights up! Alpine 6-disc CD changer (+ cassette deck) with large power-amp in trunk (all-original equipment from Jaguar) Very bright fog lights both FRONT AND BACK (you can turn on/off either one or both.) Factory security system has memory feature - if the alarm goes off and the battery is cut, the alarm and starter-disable feature will continue to operate when the battery is reattached (making it quite difficult for thieves to steal.) The key appears exactly like a regular car key but actually has an electronic transponder in it (meaning the ignition cannot be "jimmied".) VDP-specific Jaguar-original alloy wheels are in excellent condition and still have the original shine to them, they are amazingly well-made and show no significant sign of mileage. There is a FULLSIZE SPARE on a fifth Jaguar-matching alloy wheel in the trunk as well as a decent jack/kit and extra stowage space around the tire that is hidden underneath the spare-tire access panel.
