1985 Toyota Supra Original paint, 5-speed, leather  Adult owned and driven No reserve auction Here up for bids is this nice example of a MKII Supra.  As you may know, finding a stock, unmolested, undamaged Supra with original paint is not as easy as it sounds.  This car was bought new in Boise Idaho and has resided in the Pacific Northwest ever since.  Always garaged, the car has benefitted from a lifetime of care and maintenance.  The last owner was a dedicated Supra enthusiast who recently completed a major service including a new timing belt, water pump, full tune-up, and all new fluids.  This car is turn key ready and drives excellent, offering all of the performance that the Supra nameplate is known for.  Click to enlarge any of the photos below, a link to a slideshow of all the enlarged images is available to view at the bottom of the page. At the risk of dating myself, I can say that back when I was in high school, this car was the hot ticket.  Of course none of us could even begin to afford one then but it didn't stop us from dreaming.  Well, it took 26 years but now this Supra is a totally affordable option.  Add to that its bulletproof reliability and cars like this begin to make a lot of sense.  As I've mentioned, the trick is to find the right one.  This car is bone stock, still with its orginal paint in good condition.  Having original paint elimates a lot of guesswork about a car's history, it's all laid out right in front of you.  No bondo sculptures, no cheap paint jobs, no hidden damage.  For original paint, it's held up remarkably well.  Mostly its flaws consist of road wear up at the nose, and some carefully touched in chips scattered about.  The paint's finish is great for its age, still glossy with good depth and no fading.  What's even more impressive is the body, looking down the sides you'll find no dings, it's just super straight.  The car has no rust issues - no bubbling, no blisters, no problems. Nice unmarked bumpers and signal lenses.  The passenger side foglight has a small chip that's led to some discoloration.  MKII Supras were the last to have the hard edge stying, becoming more rounded off in '87.  Funny how this body style now appears retro. The car's interior has held up beautifully, a real testament to the care that it has been given.  The leather is still soft and supple, carpet is good, and the dash has zero splits or cracks.  The seats in these Supras are ultra supportive, with very pronounced bolsters.  The driver's seat takes it one step further by adding a hand operated pump to fill the seat back,  actually divided into 3 individually adjustable pockets.  In addition, a knob on the side allows the bolsters to move in or out, and even more knobs and levers allow for other adjustments, topping it all off with a 2-way adjustable headrest.  Needless to say this seat is very comfortable.   The car's radio has been upgraded to a JVC CD player, it works well and has good sound.  The car has a very advanced climate control system with full auto or manual control.  The fan, heater and plenums all work as they should, I haven't been able to vouch for the AC as it's been so darn cold here in Portland.  I do know that the compresser clicks on though.  There's lots of nifty little power accessories in this car, and they all work.  One neat little item is the flashlight, it mounts under the center console lid and has a 4 foot cord to help find things at night.     The leather wrapped steering wheel is in very good shape.  Both signal stalks are fully functioning, all of the features are working correctly, throughout this car.  All dash instruments are working and show good readings.     The power sunroof works well, as do the power windows. The one blem you'll find in this interior are a couple of small splits on the top of the back seat. The cargo section in this Supra is clean, the privacy shade is in good shape, the spare tire well is super clean and original. The best part about this Supra is the way it drives.  The car starts instantly and runs strong with no smoke or undue noise.  It tracks straight down the road with a nice firm feel, steering is dead on with no slop.  The 5 speed gearbox shifts smoothly and precisely, up or down.  The car has recently undergone a complete mechanical freshening, including new brake fluid, power steering fluid, clutch fluid, synthetic redline in trans/diff, royal purple engine oil, radiator flush and new coolant.  The car has a new timing belt, seals, tensioner, water pump, thermostat, idler pulley, drive belts, air filter, plugs, wires, cap and rotor.  All genuine Toyota parts were used, right down to the oil filter. Nice original details everywhere you look in this engine bay.  The engine bay light detaches to put light right where you want it. The Supra's 5MGE 2.8 DOHC motors produces 161HP, turning a 4.30 Limited Slip Rear Differential.  This motor really begins to sing between 3500 and 5500 rpm.  I haven't gone above 5500 but I can tell you that clear freeway onramps in 3rd gear will make your hair stand up.  The car does great on the freeway and 5th gear makes for leisurely, low rpm driving.  Even in top gear the car has loads of torque with instant throttle response. Clean and dry undercarriage, this Supra will not drip on your garage floor.  The car shows no sign of accident damage or repair, no rust issues, and solid untouched rockers.  The exhaust features a Magnaflow muffler, which adds a nice exhaust note, not too much, just the right amount.  While you're going through the gears it provides the right auditory feedback that makes driving fun.
