Vehicle Detail
For sale is my 1993 Honda Nighthawk 250. I titled it on July 13, 2009. I bought it here on ebay from a gentleman who bought it from MD Police who used it in their Motorcycle riding courses. It had 5,127 miles on it when I bought it. It does have some scrapes from those classes - headlight chrome frame has scratches, on the side of the tach - surprisingly the mufflers are not too bad. Since buying it I have put some work into it. I put good New Good NGK spark plugs in it. I gave it an oil change immediately and put a magnetic plug in it - to attract any metal that is in the oil pan. I put a new throttle cable and speedo cable on it. I rode it a while to class getting up to 55mph and a little higher, then I took off the carb and took it into a shop that said they cleaned it. I replaced that carb. I bought a newer carb on ebay, I think it was a 2005. I bought a kit and my husband and I rebuilt it. We took the old carb out and it looked like it had not been cleaned by the motorcycle dealership in Winchester, VA. I put the rebuilt and cleaned carb back in the motorcycle. I installed a new seat cover on, with the help of my friend who is a seamstress. We used red cow hide. We like it! Over the winter I put a new chain on. I was having difficulty starting it so while I had it in different shop in Winchester they also put a new back tire on while they got it running. I didn't ride it very much so it was hard starting. I had a friend look at it and he cleaned up the carb and put a "new" gas tank on it. The "new" gas tank I bought off of ebay. It is new with one prominent dent on the left side. It is also just a little different shade of red. I had him put it on to make sure the carb was getting clean gas. He broke the hinge (and didn't tell me) on the gas cap lock. The gas cap does lock as it should and looks good. You should be able to see this in the pictures. I filled it with premium gas a few weeks ago. It starts right up now, but has to warm a little before you take off. It does shift easily into all five gears. Brakes are good. It is currently inspected and will pass inspection again because all lights work as they should! It is currently registered in VA and I have a clean clear title in hand. It has 5,526.6 miles on it. The concerns: It was a bike used for the motorcycle classes so you can tell when you ride it 1st and 2nd gear are more worn. The chain guard is on but it is not on the way it came. When riding it now, currently, the power is lacking. I can pull the throttle all the way down and the bike will only go as fast as 35mph. It seems to have gotten better because it would only go 20mph in 2nd gear when I first rod it after my friend had for several weeks. I don't have an answer to why the power is lacking, because it shifts fine and in neutral the throttle revs well. I heard I could get some sea foam and put that in the gas. I think it just needs to be ridden regularly, no guarantees that is the fix. It doesn't have a center stand. I found that you can buy one online. I'm selling this because I bought a 200cc scooter. I have had many motorcycles, a couple 250 Rebels, Suzuki 500e, Lifan 200, Honda Shadow 750, but before all these I started out with a Honda Elite which I rod everywhere. I am going back to my roots with the scooter. The motorcycle is used and sold AS IS I can help deliver around Front Royal, but because of gas prices I would like help paying for the gas. I can ride it down to the front gate and meet someone there. I may be willing to ride it in town, but no further. If you have any questions please ask. I get my email on my Blackberry so you'll get a prompt response. gnjforce@comcast.net There is nothing in the gas tank besides gas, a full tank of gas! IT IS CLEAN! The picture has some anomaly in it. On May-25-11 at 09:01:09 PDT, seller added the following information: ********************************************************************************** HI ALL, I just found out this morning from the guy who put the gas tank on my motorcycle some information about the carburator. He said that the carburator is not working properly. The carb is not opening and closing as it should. He said he got it up to 45 - 55 mph. It just depends on if the carb is going to work or not. I asked him if a new carburator would fix it and he said YES. ************************************************************************************ If you want to see the motorcycle I will park it at the gate of our community on Saturday afternoon. This is at the intersection of High Knob Road and Route 55 West. If you want to hear it run email me and I can meet you there. On May-26-11 at 01:10:19 PDT, seller added the following information: Change in plans for showing the bike on Saturday. They are doing construction on our gate and there is no "safe" place to park it by the gate without there being a chance of someone hitting it. I propose that if you want to see it email me and I will give you the address of our Club House. I can park it there and be reasonably sure it will be safe. gnjforce@comcast.net On May-28-11 at 07:25:21 PDT, seller added the following information: I also have a 1993 Honda Nighthawk 250 Service Manual for this motorcycle - not the little book that normally comes with a motorcyle but a full size service manual. If the bid gets high enough I will include it with the bike, otherwise I will sell it. I only have one key for the motorcycle.
