Vehicle Detail

Note to bidders: If you have feedback lower than 10 you must contact me prior to bidding to review my terms and conditions. I will end auctions early using eBay's sell-to-high bidder option but obviously I expect some premium over the opening price. Note to Scammers: Forget about it, practice your english on somebody who cares. And by the way, you guys have got to quit calling from those scammer call centers. I can hear the other guys asking the same stupid questions in the back ground--"and why are you selling the car, er I mean the motorcycle..." I take bank wire transfers or paypal for international deals, no cashier’s checks, bundled shipping deals or other scammer-specific stuff, OK? From a small private Ohio collection managed by a long-time GS devotee. Climate controlled storage of a very well-tuned and maintained example in the rarest of E colors (only offered in '83 and I see 5 red ones for every blue). My GS credentials include many full restorations including last August's GS Resources "bike of the month"http://www.thegsresources.com/halloffame/2010/gs_photo_aug_2010.htmAuction bikeThis is a beautiful stock-except-handlebars example of the Japanese-German partnership that produced breakthrough engineering and styling for Suzuki in the early 80’s--including the love-it-or-leave-it Katana. The bars have a little less rise and pullback than stock for better leverage without needing a back transplant after a couple hours of riding. If you'd prefer stock bars I have the originals and can substitute at your request. I would also swap out the stock exhaust if anyone prefers a Vance and Hines (in regular white chrome) and I'll jet the bike back for the pipe at no charge. Those of you who follow my auctions know I operate as "Akron Suzuki Works". I do this as a business and yes, my asking prices are higher than typical eBay pricing. Keep in mind pricing may be transparent, but quality isn’t! These E bikes in particular are tricky to buy on a seller’s description—which is why I offer a personal description guarantee. If you come out to pick this bike up and it’s not what you expected from my description I’ll cancel the sale and refund your deposit. The e's were easy to knacker up since they had so much power and often got little maintenance. Getting "AN" E vs getting "THE RIGHT E" to paraphrase Mark Twain is like the difference between lightening and a lightening bug--except the wrong E can waste an enormous amount of time and money. The 'wrong E's' have provided a number of parts bikes for my operation here.We are all vintage Suzuki riders here at my operation and we go thru each bike as if we were preparing our own bikes. If you can do this yourself you don't need to buy a bike from me. I understand and appreciate that. But if you want to take advantage of somthing like 100 man-years of Japanese bike experience we'd love to have you on our customer list. I also provide follow up tech support to help diagnose any problems that might arise down the road. And one final 'not-your-typical-eBay-seller' note is that I'll sell any part from my spares bins to anyone whose bought a bike from me.Bike summaryFrom our operational evaluation and inspection of known wear points, this appears to be an un-restored, never down, GS1100ES. We believe the mileage indicated to be accurate. Stock exhaust system, an OE Suzuki paper air filter is jetted with the lid off. Tires, seals, gaskets, battery, hoses and clamps are the only other non OE pieces. This bike shows good storage. Of course we fine-tuned the carburetion and did our normal charging system tune-up including Suzuki-recommended replacement of all connectors and grounds. You are bidding on a bike in:v Ride-anywhere conditionv All electrical and mechanical functions operating as expectedv Leak-free, smoke-free, rattle-freev Paint is nice overall including frame which is glossy and corrosion free; some scratches on tail section and minor imperfections so lets give it an 8.5/10v Rear Dunlop showing about 60% of original non-skid, front has good tread depth but showing some weathering on the sidewalls.v Clean tank interiorv Starts instantly, runs eagerly and shifts normally through the power band.v Forks are tight, tubes shiny, original anti-dive front suspension feels snug and progressive with good cornering stability. v New battery, on spec charging system which was re-wired, grounds cleaned as we do on all the GS bikes to eliminate this well identified trouble point.v Idles smoothly, pulls strongly.v Classic E powerband, rides and shifts precisely. v Brakes are solid and progressive.v Seat is stock with no visible wear or cracking v Nice 630 O-ring chain lubed and adjusted (note photo is taken of the chain before exhaust system was re-fitted. v Smooth clutch and shifting, no false neutrals or popping out of gear. Note on the stock air filter set up. I like the intake set-up on this bike. People don’t realize how much engineering goes into those stock air boxes. The stock filter has much more surface area than pod filters and the intake tunneling serves as a velocity stack to accelerate the air flow as it approaches the carb inlets. Many thanks to all the input I got from some very serious E tuners out there. The consensus is leave the standard air box alone!Additional Comments:As with any used bike, there are some paint blems and some light wear places, scratches on the tail section; No broken tabs on side covers but I did do an epoxy re-inforcement on one cover making it stronger than original with no visual evidence from the outside. Nice and clean ‘under the hood’ with all the original stickers in good nick. Both wheels are in very nice condition with no corrosion or dings, nicely detailed. I'm frequently asked about availability of spares for these bikes. The last photo shows an order I received recently for a customer restoration. Many parts are still available including brake lines, insignia, decals, charging system components, almost all gaskets and seals. Just to let you know what's coming up, I have included pictures (second from last) of a 5k mile GS750 16-valve that is ready to list pending a local buyer's decision and a very strong 45 hundred mi. '82 GS1100 L which currently is without title. We are in the final stages of preparing a lovely dark red '80 GS1100E which will we'll be detailing early next week. It is the nicest unrestored '80 I've seen in 10 years, no pics available for that just yet. I do make second chance offers through eBay.====================================================== About the sellerTake into consideration that however well kept it may be, a vintage bike is not going to be as reliable as a newer bike and if you are a stickler for cosmetic details you may not be happy with a bike that has even some minor blems. I maintain a high buyer satisfaction rating via accurate descriptions. Of course you know by now that any used vehicle is sold as-is/where-is without warrantee expressed or implied. I am a mechanical engineer with over 35 yrs experience riding, racing, international touring, tuning, and restoring motorcycles.
