Up for auction this week is my 1966 Chrysler Newport. I really hate to see it go, but it is time. The car was bought new at Bright Motors in Bedford Indiana by an older couple. The husband became ill shortly after it was bought and was rarely driven, but was at least garaged. The car was bought by a collector in Ohio in 1995 with just 6,683 miles on it. I purchased the car in 2001 with roughly 8,000 miles on the clock. The car currently has 12,553 miles on it. I do have copies of both titles from 1st owner to the 2nd owner and from the 2nd owner to myself. The car has an excellent running 383/2bbl carb with a 727automatic transmission that operates smoothly. It runs and drives like a new 1966 car, as it should with only 12,000 miles on it. A custom dual exhaust with Flowmasters has been added and has a very nice sound. The brakes work good and the master cylinder was replaced last spring. The body wears its original paint...yes, original paint. It does have some nicks, dents and scratches, but remember that it's only original paint once ! This is basically a no rust car. No panel replacement with this one. The black interior is very nice with only one small tear in the driver's seat back and the stitching is coming apart on the top two corners of the front seat. A set of 20" Eagle Alloys were added and the car has been lowered front and rear. Definitely looks a lot better than the 14" whitewalls and hubcaps.
